And hi smile:)

I received a few email enquiring about me so I was passing by. I had things to do and a little health issue so wasn't much on sites. I didn't retry the vcp either. If I like it, I wont be able to use it long term untill the mac version comes out anyway.. so I'll wait for that moment to arrive, it will be more fun smile:)

heh I could have made the list longer but my brain started saying open FF go open FF, you want to make a filter go open FF... Then I remembered I had to go out anyway smile:(.

I so need my FF fix..

And Heya Ambrosia and CFandM! Cause Carl and Co will be chatting while I am fast asleep. Heya Down under! How's ya all doing?

Seen as Ron and you all keep mentioning films what films stick in your mind years after watching them?

One of mine is Red Dawn, must be at least 12 years since I last watched it but still stuck in my mind.

Notice on the new mesh that I have started keeping the polygonals four sided.
As you can imagine, textures would make this look a lot more realistic.

I still need to add the laser sight, silencer, etc., and then I get to move on to the Lamborghini. smile:)

Ahimsa, this gun has gov on the side so it may be military. Maybe your husband has one - it's called an MK23. It is a .45.

Carl have you ever fired a gun?

Has anyone used something like this? You hold it like a paintbrush. I noticed one being used to create some of the models used in the Sky Captain movie. It sure does look cool.

a couple of times as a kid [ a 22 rifle ], we don't have the same gun culture society as the US, which I think is good. Thats not to say there aren't guns around, people don't have hand guns, semi-automatics are banned, people like farmers, shooting cubs and hunters have rifles, cops, security guards have guns but the vast majority don't own guns and our gun murder rate is minuscule.

I don't disagree but that view oversimplifies the situation. My small town had be ruined by drugs and STD's. There are a lot of guns here but no one ever gets shot but I do know lots of people who's life has been ruined by addiction to meth, pot, pharmaceutical and other recreational drugs. Guns are mostly a problem because of the ill conceived 'war on drugs' that makes so many people criminals.

yes I understand, some one robbed by knife point [ carrying knives is also illegal here ] you are far more unlikely to have a death. The fight against drugs misses the point totally - the reason people take drugs and since dawn of time people have found some way to get off there face and always will - Prohibition never works

Thanks. smile:) Bear in mind that I am being guided by a professional modeler (Zack from 3dBuzz) so I take none of the credit. It will be a while before I am able to break out on my own.

Btw, I like the asymmetry of your MetGlass frame filter. smile:) You seem to be in a 'frame' phase. I had one but it was very brief. I was sure ff users would love my frame but they didn't. smile:cry:

Ooo me likes! Reminds me of Geodes smile:). I should really look through more and see what other people have created. Just I hate to end up using and abusing others filter creations for projects, specially if I plan on selling the end item.

When I was ff-ing I would avoid looking at the galleries as much as possible. I felt like it was cutting off paths. Snippets are different. They are purely technical.

One of the advantages of Maya is the availability and quality of the tutorials.

Cool, am pretty much still on the FF-ing stage of things, finding it hard to concentrate on other graphic/3d etc packages.

Nah your not, I should have explained a bit more about that site. They have basic items like T-shirts, mugs, mouse mats etc and you can add images to them either to purchase the finial item for yourself or to sell via their web site. The amount you make depends on a) if the item sells to start with smile:D b) they take a fixed price for the price of the base product and add percentages on top of that which you will get. Lowest is 10% and most is 50% but the finial product price goes up depending how much you increase your cut by.

Don't know if that helps explain any better? Just seems a fun way of maybe or maybe not making a little money. And yep I used filters one of them was Dilla's.

For me, ff had always been leading to 3d but were it not for the expiration of the trial period I would not have been able to pull back long enough to get started – at least I was not ready to quit when my copy expired. I was without access to FF for about a month while I waited for my filters to turn HU. That is when I got started on Maya. It was painful at the time but in retrospect, I am very glad it happened.

No clue if it will or wont, but it's something different. I have the images already or can make stuff, and I enjoy creating so even if they don't sell it wont cost me anything but time.

I don't know what FF will lead to for me yet. Am still having far to much fun figuring out what I can come up with. Either using snippets or creating unusual combinations of my own smile:D. But I enjoy learning new skills and I think when my FF faze has worn of a bit I will look into the Daz3d a bit more then maybe try the Carrara package for a month and see how that goes.

IMO, It has been shortsighted on the part of FF for failing to recognize his contribution to the bottom line and the community. Plus they did not place a high priority on fixing the resource leak and ironing out the eula issues – I know that those were two things that bugged him. It should be FF that tries to get him to return.

Still in the creative mode mood but am trying out something else for a month at the mo, downloaded a demo font creating software the other day so thought I best use it before the time runs out. See if I want to purchase it at the end smile;).. is a fraction of price compared to some I have found online.

Fingers crossed Ahimsa and Steve start chatting again.. and all them others that have gone very very quiet.

The forums have gone very quiet indeed, with most of the regulars (including Vlad) being notably absent. Filter submissions have been stagnating for months (basically since the EULA discussions came up), with fewer and fewer interesting filters arriving, and the competition idea kind of lost its momentum... .. . 'tis sad, really! FF needs to conjure up some fresh wind by giving us a filter contest or a new beta to play with soon!

As for myself, I'll dedicate my time to delving deeper into 3D-modeling and digital painting... always wanted to do that! Besides, it's about time all the noise lab experiments in my secret stash are put to good use. I'll be checking in frequently here, but - most likely - there won't be any new 'dilla' filters until the bomber tools arrive! smile;)

I think your right Ron those were definitely some of the reasons [ though I shouldn't speak for him ]- it seem like the eula problem is just being ignored as too hard [ hopefully I'm wrong but nothing been changed ], the resource leek is a unprofessional to still have and does turn people off, no incentives for keeping experience authors submitting and texture selling packs all things dear to his heart. His input to the forum was massive with 8000 or something posts and shouldn't be underestimated - I only started posting after he started talking to me every one else ignored me - he started this thread - I am very saddened by him leaving and has killed the enthusiam for the forum, I have considered leaving as well now but I enjoy our conversation Ron and talking to a couple of other people.

Don't worry! As I wrote above, I have no intention to quit the forums... I'll be hanging around still and I'll definitely be posting, just not to the extent I used to do. I'm also still interested in and available for any future contests... smile:)

However, after playing around with FF for more than a year I'm convinced that I should move my attention to other areas of the broad digital content creation field that I had previously neglected a bit...
