Kraellin, StevieJ: This makes three of us who would love to program a game and I have actually been doing a lot of research. Personally I would love to see the mech game come about, but $ is scarce and time is even scarcer.
An alternative idea; however, would be to do FUN indie games for things like wii ware or xbox live game download see(www.thebehemoth.com)and then make a company based on gameplay and not soly on 3d graphics and epic cut scences. Then as we build resources we could go for a more in depth game. Start small build up! Anyway I think it would be fun to put our heads together and see what happened ![]() Currently I am learning Python, Blender 3d, Flash, Action Script, and a Java. If you are wondering if a good game could be made with only this check out www.yofrankie.com or www.blender.com and click on the yofrankie link. Also I am a teacher and have a lot of free time in the summer, may turn to be a profitable endevor, this "game creation" thing. |

LOL..... Dilla......
![]() ![]() Red, I can't make a move without Carl.....don't let that Aussi thing fool you.....he's damn good!!! ![]() ![]() Glad to hear that you like the Mech idea.....I think it would work. It's the only game genre that hasn't been overdone.....and alot more to expand and improve upon. "Armored Core" is the closest thing to what I have in mind. They just released a new online version of it, but still lacking in alot of aspects that I would like to pursue.....design, online functionality similar to WoW, etc..... You're right.....it would take some serious $$$ to do it.....or a dedicated team with good programmers that are able to envision the "pot of gold" at the end of the rainbow.....and are able to dedicate some time towards it for free..... I would suggest checking out Caligari's "TrueSpace" as an excellent "free" modeler (not going to remain free). They are in the middle of developing an association with XBox towards game development......so I would suggest checking it out. I'm currently in the middle of learning TrueSpace and finding that it is an excellent modeling program......here are some samples of what can be made from it..... ![]() Steve

I was sold by that second pic of the stone house.....although they forgot the shadow from the lamp pole.....but other than that, that's as good as it gets for photo-realism.....
![]() PS..... There is a good group of seriously talented people here.....and a successful entrepreneurial endeavor could be made if you could get a handful of them together on the same page towards something..... ![]() Steve

Somehow I don't think HUs are going to work with Dilla..... ![]() ![]() Red, thanks for posting that!!! ![]() I would have alot of fun just creating mech parts.....if something like this was ever to start materializing..... ![]() If you already have PlayStation 2 or 3.....or can rent it from a nearby video store.....check out "Armored Core: Nexus" or maybe "Armored Core: Last Raven" (last ones for PS2).....and take some time to get into one of them. Once you get past the initial stages to where you have the credits and parts to build some advanced machines, you will really start seeing the possibilities of where you could go with the concept in conjuction with the online capabilities of something like "World of WarCraft"..... ![]() Half the fun of Armored Core is in engineering and building your mechs.....especially when you start getting into it where you have infinite part and construction options.....totally addictive (to me anyway).....$$$..... ![]() ![]() Steve
