Now that sounds like fun. smile:D

Now what about my idea for a three part filter that all three of us make? I don't mean we each make part of one filter, but make three filters that work together.

I made a sort of accidental filter the other week, I called it "pixel knit". I dunno anything about material, cept my mother sewed me some button up shirts in high school. She did pretty good with diamond sleeves and a 5 inch bottom (not tucked in part) of a different color. I stole ideas from buttrock & skater magazines for fashion ha-ha. Other than that, I just had my spiderman head latchhook kit circa 83' or so. Humble beginnings etc.

P.S. Greetz to Carl since this is his thread I guess ha-ha. smile:D

For a guy I would never have picked to do knits these are pretty darn good, Ahimsa is definitely FF resident knit so she'll have to pass more knowledgeable eye but it has a stitchy look to me smile;)

You're not talking about doing something kinky dirty to it are you? smile:| ... smile:D

I would do a pattern that would be more of an effect ( I already have something that I've been working on like that) and have Steve's filter used on top of that and then your's would go over that to get the full effect. But at the same time all three could also be used seperately.

Dear Wife,
I'm writing you this letter to tell you that I'm leaving you for good.
I've been a good man to you for seven years and I have nothing to show for
it. These last two weeks have been hell. Your boss called to tell me that
you had quit your job today and that was the last straw.

Last week, you came home and didn't even notice that I had gotten a new
hair cut, cooked your favorite meal, and even wore a brand new pair of
silk boxers later that night.

You came home, nibbled at your food for two minutes, and went straight to
sleep after watching all of your soaps. You don't tell me you love me
anymore, you don't want sex anymore or anything. Either you're cheating on
me or you don't love me. Whichever is the case,,,,I'm gone.

Signed,

Your EX-Husband

P.S. Don't try to find me. Your sister and I are moving away to West
Virginia together. Have a great life!
------------ --------- --------- --------- ---------

Dear Ex-Husband,

Nothing has made my day more enjoyable than receiving your letter. It's
true that you and I have been married for seven years, although a 'good
man' is a far cry from what you've been. I watch my soaps so much because
they drown out your constant whining and griping. It's just too bad it
doesn't work.

Yes, I did notice when you got a hair cut last week,,,and actually the
first thing that came to my mind was "You look just like a girl",,, but my
mother raised me not to say anything at all if you can't say anything
nice. And when you cooked my favorite meal, you must have gotten me
confused with my SISTER, because I stopped eating pork seven years ago.

I turned away from you when you had those new silk boxers on because the
price tag was still on them. I prayed that it was just a coincidence that
my sister had just borrowed fifty dollars from me that morning and your
silk boxers were $49.99...

After all of this, I still loved you and felt that we could work it out.
So when I discovered that I had hit the lotto for twenty million dollars,
I quit my job and bought us two tickets to Hawaii. But when I got home you
were gone. Everything happens for a reason I guess. I hope you have the
fulfilling life you've always wanted.

My lawyer said with the letter that you wrote, you won't get a dime from
me. So take care.

Signed:
Rich As Hell and Freeeeeeeeeeee!

P.S. I don't know if I ever told you this but my sister 'Carla',,,was born
Carl. I hope that's not a problem for you.

Busy adding more of my textures to free site areas. Renderosity only approved one of them...guess they don't want people knowing about FF. Too late, DAZ is a much bigger site and people are seeing my stuff there and will be seeing a lot more.

Well, 12 hours later they allowed another one of my texture packages into the free area. Maybe tomorrow the third one will be accepted, but by then I will have uploaded about 7 more packs that I have sitting here. smile:D

I was about to finally submit one of them (My Woodie).....but the piracy has really taken an upswing lately.....so I thought that I would wait until the new EULA is in place.....

Remind me never to get on your sheeeot list..... smile;) smile:D LOL....

If you ever did get on that list I would just be ignoring you.

There has been more piracy? I'm only subscribed to this thread now so I guess I have missed that discussion.

People here could ruin that little preset selling business easy if they would just do what I'm doing and give away the presets to the 3D community. The people love getting them for free and it takes away from sales to the preset harvesters. As for people making money by actually using the filters, I don't have a problem with that.

Today I will get a bunch uploaded. Waiting for Constantin to give me permission to upload textures made from his filter. When I add a link to the freebie it takes people to all my textures that I have uploaded and everyone of them say that the textures were made in FF. This way more and more people are learning about FF and will see that they don't need to buy these preset textures from other people.

Yeah, they could....and it does....but I think that it's kind self-defeating to give away your hard work like that.....

I'd like to see the EULA put a stop to most of it on these sites so authors could focus on making money on them instead of giving them away just to stop others from making money on them......

The sooner the new EULA gets posted the better..... smile;) smile:)

I'm through giving away...someone actually complained that I used a seperate thread for each different set and couldn't I just dump them all in one...the person who complained is the one I gave my extra Poser 5 to too...b---h.

Renderosity only allows one upload per day to go into the free area...so screw them to.

My dog died a little bit ago. He was completely bedridden the past two weeks and paralyzed first from the waist down and then from the neck down. Guess that has something to do with my irritability this morning. smile:(

Does it count how many downloads - just curious wether people are using it - it is another way of course where you don't get any usage points toward it becoming HU like when as you say poeople save filters into My Filters - the credit bit is the right thing to do so good on her for that smile:)

The stuff uploaded there gets a small fraction of a penny for every time it's downloaded. All that person is doing is sharing rendered textures of your filters so no, you don't get any usage for the downloads there, but since he/she added your filter link to the upload I think you will see an increase in downloads and maybe some HUs coming from it. Basically it is some excellent advertising of your filter.

....I don't like seeing them being given away like that.....even if they do "blow you a meaningless kiss" with some credit.....they are still taking advantage of you to bring potential customers in to sell themselves and other things.....

I'm hoping authors "get a clue" and start selling them themselves when the new EULA goes into place.....

......so that's why I have no comment..... smile;) smile:D LOL....

No.....when the new EULA goes into place.....no one gives away any copyrights for free distribution like this.....and start taking royalties for these quick "copy, package, & resell" jobs.....

I don't think that too many realize how they can take advantage of the proposed new EULA......and make some money off of their hard work.....

Also Constantine Malkov's Chain Mail, Ronvier's Plasma Ball, and my Mandala, all with no comment giving credit to the original Authors.

One more that looked much like what Filterforge can create here, does anyone recognize that one ? And hey, if it isn't a Filterforge filter, what say we create a filter like that just to undercut him ? In fact, I think I'll call for a day of revenge here, and challenge all the other authors to make filters that do what his other stuff do, only for free here on Filterforge smile:)

It looks like at least half the Mandalas were ones he made with your filter, not just presets.

Steve & Miavir, are you both wanting to be paid whenever someone uses one of your filters and wants to be able to sell the outcome? I'm only upset about people selling my presets and not even using the filter. I always expected people to use the filter and be able to sell what they made from it. I have no problem with that. smile:?:

No.....just for quick copying texture presets without any creative input.....and that's all.....

I would also like to see authors taking more advantage of their submitted hard work.....and the proposed EULA is really going to allow them to do just that.....

I'm not against you doing anything you want with your filters.....I'm just offering some humble plebian suggestions to get more return on your efforts here..... smile;) smile:D

Selling our presets is what I'm against, but if someone buys this program they should be able to sell any textures they make while actually using the filters provided they are not the presets.

FF's customers that are reading what's going on must be getting really confused.

Miavir, I have already damaged some of his sales by giving my presets away this past week. Renderosity has been extremely slow at getting my uploads into the freebie section, but I always give my share site page instead of the single download page and hundreds of people have already downloaded for free, from me, my presets that guy has been selling. His credibility as an honest merchant is in the crapper. People know now that all he did was take presets from here that they all could gave gotten free and sold them to the unsuspecting. I think if you would do the same with your presets it might be all that's needed to end his preset selling career.

Upload here http://www.sharecg.com/ so people can download from you and see all your presets, then post a link and preview at Renderosity, 3D Commune, and DAZ. Make sure you mention that you are the one who created the filter that made these presets.

Sorry, it's not just the presets.....it's any first-hand result from a texture filter without tiling onto something or using it in some creative way.....

For example.....users can't resell a photo filter preset with the lifesaver in it because the lifesaver is a copyrighted image.....so they have to run some other external imgage through it. The same applies to your texture filters......any straight result from it is your copyrighted property like the lifesaver image.....until it is used in some creative way......

Do you follow???

I don't think I do. Are you saying that if someone uses my filter and creates a design that is different than mine that they shouldn't have the right to sell it? That wouldn't be right at all. There is a lady that asked my permission to sell the textures she made with my filter and had she not told me that it was from my filter I would never have known. The way I see it if someone uses my filter and makes something that does not look like my presets then that belongs to them.

Okay......any texture result that can be generated and saved as a preset in your filter......can not be copied and resold as-is. It has to be used in some creative manner.....tiled onto something, used as a backdrop for something else, etc. In other words, someone can't just randomize your texture filter, copy the staight results, and resell them.....

it might be real interesting if vlad changed the number of presets allowed on a filter. like, if it was unlimited again, you could add 2000 presets to your filter submission and they would all be copyrighted by the author smile;)
