I was trying out the texture on the brush and got this really wooly cool looking texture. So Wooly-man was born. lol He's not the best, but I liked him too much to not share him. His greenish teeth came out sort of cool. smile:D

Mardar ... A little "Wizard Of Oz", a little nightmare ... all cool ... good teeth as usual .... Textures can be fun ....

Been busy lately but I did this quick sketch with symmetry turned off. I saw something similar in a book on island art. If you use a shiny material the glaze filtering will look more like glaze. I used almost all carving instead of adding clay. That is one way I have done some of my tikis so they would look like wood carvings.

Love the Wooly Man and the Wizard of Oz. Nice texture for both !

Yes, my potato man has the eyes sprouting out of his head. But look at this one... he is much better or worst...

Thanks Gene for the infos.

Thanks Carl. We still waiting for your first attempt !

Here my old man with his beautiful EYES.

Gene love the carving. I don't know what it is about primitive art carvings that is so appealing to me, but I know I love it. He is awesome. smile;)

Ghislaine, I think you need to switch to decaf. LOL You always make me laugh with your wonderful carvings. smile:D I really like his mustache. He is quit the Dandy. smile8)

Here is my Moon-Man to go with my Sun Man I made earlier. I turned off symmetry and made my own brush for the craters. I made a small black background and put a white zero font on it and loaded it into my texture for the brush, and just like that, craters. smile:D

Ghislaine .... Your "dandy" is great ... he is so whimsical and fun ... I really like the material you used. Gives it an old pewter look .... My wife saw the second image and said: "I knows silicone when I see it" that was her not me. I have no idea what she means ....

Mardar .... Nice textures ... funny moon ... If he had a rocket sticking out of his eye George Mele would be proud .....

I'm ashamed of using Ghislaine's filter to produse this image .....

Mardar, your Moon Man is beautiful, I love his lips. As I have switched for decaf, no carvings tonight LOL, but it is just for tonight... smile:)

Gene, don't get ashamed to use my flower filter. Your guy has a perfect nose, and in the flower, this image reminds me the Rio carnaval when women dance with their great dresses and their hats with big flowers. smile;)

OK here Mister Meow in his simplicity without silico... sorry without carvings.

I used a snake brush for this, so he is not so cute as my cats.

Gene your flower looks like one of Anne Geddes photos. You know that lady that dresses those babies up in all those costumes and photographs them. She like dressing them up like flowers a lot. Very cute. smile:D

Ghislaine you cat does look like a mouse. It must be a mutant cat that ate a radioactive mouse. smile:D It is very good. I like him.

Carl, we love the good the bad and the scary. Sorry I missed your post. smile:( I'm sure we would love whatever you posted. Please don't fell like we would reject it, because we love it all. smile:love:

Carl, I'm jalous. How did you do that wonder ? As said Mardar, I love the dark shadowing you used. His ears are so nice and well done. I see this mask on a wall.

Mardar, excellent idea your pitcher and it is well done too.

Each of us creates very different and nice things. I do not know for you, but for me, every day I'm in a hurry to come up here and look at new beautiful creations.

Spaceray, why don't you work with Sculptris and share with us your eventual creations ? smile:?:

Ghislaine .... Hey your cat looks like a cat .... What do we know? Maybe it's a French cat .... It's cute no matter what it is, and the winged bug with quilted wings is really cool. Did you start with a plane instead of a sphere on that one?

Mardar ... You and Ghislaine have such wild imaginations ... The cool-aid dude is so much fun. You caught me, my flower guy was a bit of a parody of those baby pictures. That book drives me crazy .....

Carl .... I always thought you had a weird streak .... Your spooky guy really scares me.

This guy was inspired by a movie photo I once saw. I don't know if he is scary, but he sure is strange.

Carl ... you have quite a range, from scary to cute to abstract. The dog is very cute, but if I saw that last sculpt in an art gallery it would stop me in my tracks. I love abstract sculpts and the texture and surface is just perfect on that one .... Is it Lincoln?

Ghislaine ... I have trouble with ears as well. That is why I made tiki masks for so long, no ears. There is a free program called ImageOverlay which allows you to float a picture on top of the Sculptris interface to use as reference. There are a number of sites that have body part examples. I use this method to practice stuff I find hard. Your profile shows that you already have a pretty good understanding of the stucture of a human face as it is .....

Mardar ... Laughter is good ... It is better to funny than smart .... Thanks

I noticed the other thread about the models available online to use for creating sculpts in Sculptris. I must admit that if I'm in a hurry I do use those kinds of shortcuts in my work, but I also make my own basic models to start with. I have a bunch of head and body shapes I have created as a starting point for sculpting. With this guy I used a mask stlyle head shape with a flat back. I find I can work faster with a mask because you only have to pull out to get ears and hair and such. I used to work with a guy who always bought those trashy tabloid papers at the super market. One was called The World, I think. It always had a picture of Batboy on the cover. (You know the kid that was half human, half bat. It happens all the time you know)This is my take on Batboy .....

Mardar ... spooky spooky guy .... like the background
Ghislaine ... Funny pig ... Like the tongue and the pose.

I was using my Simple Sphere Maker to create a green material and made this kinda tiki guy to test it out. It's nothing special but the green came out pretty good even if it's not jade like I was aiming for

Carl & Mardar ..... I think you have both guessed, my green tiki is not very tiki like. I'd be in big trouble with the tiki crowd it I created a t-shirt and said it was a tiki shirt. (The nose is too human and the shape is too fancy) But I was just fooling around and having fun with it ...... Glad you both liked it ... your opinions are more valued by me than those obsessed left coast weirdos.(Ops, I hope Carl lives east of the Rockies)

Ghislaine ... Your Spock dude is super cool, but shouldn'e he be green? The tongue is very New Zealand primative, and I really like the eyes. They look like jewels or colored glass.

My beard texture is kinda flaky but I finally got to use Rukage's Eye Factory on this guy .....

Ghislaine, love your Mr. Spock. He is very cool. I love his tongue sticking out, that always makes me laugh. smile:D smile:love:

Gene, your latest guy is just great. Love that "narley" beard and his overall texture. I need to practice some more to get better at this. I can't quit figure out how you get that 3D look but still keep your sculpture looking like a flat mask. Mine always looks like busts instead of masks. You are "The Man" Gene when it comes to making these great figures. The eyes really set him off perfectly. Don't worry about those weirdos on the west cost, do what you love and your true artistic nature will win out. smile;) smile:love:

I'll try to get a new figure up this evening. I've been busy up till now (doing my taxes. Yeck!) but I am done now, so it's time to play again. smile:D

Okay this is "Brain-man" He was dressed up in my paint program with an energy strip around his head and a bit of jewelry. He started out as an antique statue similar to the ones found in the Emperor of China's underground palace, but he went very, very wrong somewhere. lol smile:D

Mardar, fantactic your Brain Man. Yes I have recognised the background from Gene's filter. I love his cheeks and also the green neon color. Very well done.

Happy Birthday Ghislaine .... Hope you didn't overdo it now that you are of legal age to drink ... Sorry but all of our cats are monsters ... Yes, they even have horns and that does not make for a cute photo ....

Mardar ... The neon hat and the necklace really adds to your brain guy. A really nice face shape ... lips and nose look good ... The deep color on the face and desaturated background makes everything jump ....

I must admit that I am a little mercenary about trying to get my tikis looking right ... I'm trying to sell t-shirts to those left coast folks, so I gotta try to please them. (not as many Midwesterners who can have outside tiki bars that will not end up buried in snow) A couple of things I do to get that mask look is to start with something other than the sphere. I have several mask and log models I start with. The last couple I have posted were done on a plane using mostly the carve, smooth, and move tools. You can change a plane shape real quick by using the move tool with a fairy big brush ..... Sorry I don't mean to sound like a lecture, I'm not a rocket scientist or Super Filter Guy or Sheldon. I just goof around until I find what works .... Just trying to be helpful ... I don't think most of you folks really need much help. Y'all are creative enough to come up with cool stuff without my help.
