Hey Sam, I really like your Quicksilver filter. I came up with a variation you might find interesting. This is in no way meant to be an improvement or critique because I like your filter very much just the way it is. I was only hoping to enhance the what the filter already does. I think it creates beautiful textures, among the best in the library, and if you ever want to revisit it maybe you can keep these ideas in mind for the next release.
Keep up the good work, I think you have a tremendous natural artistic ability.
Because it is raining where I am I cannot post samples of the new variation so I changed the presets to examples I like. I could not help adding a ron mode (checkbox) in addition to the existing sam mode – I like them both very much.

Btw, set the distribution slider to zero to return it to your original. And the curve components off to the left were an experimental profile for the cells but it never panned out.
I especially like presets 7, 8 and 10.

Less than two weeks before the wedding and I am still not done with everything. I can't work on the flowers when the baby is here as he has needs...you know...hold me, play with me, feed me needs. smile:D

I should be around again in a few weeks when this mess is over with.

Looks like two banks will be there instead of just one. I'm surprised the credit card companies won't be there too. smile:D

Can't wait for the kids to be on their honeymoon as Paul and I have nice plans for the baby. Toy shopping day, park day, and balloon day are some things we plan to do. No, he won't be spoiled... smile:dgrin:

Talk to you guys soon I hope.

Really??? The stones alone are pretty quick.....so it shouldn't affect the speed of your filter that much.....unless it will be the "straw that breaks the camels back" on an already super-slow filter...... smile:|

It;s too bad you can't use that one - it looks great. Would it be possible to add that as a high quality mode that did not show up on the presets. I guess the problem with high quality modes is that they break variations. Maybe it could be a mode that could be manually switched inside the filter - like a secret mode. smile:)

I wonder if it would be possible to embed the tracks into the gravel the way I embeded the sphere in the stones in Generate Tiles.

yep it's a good idea, with a bit of a fiddle I can the Diffuse map to drop some gravel around and over sleepers but couldn't [ so far ] get the bump/normal to work. Here is how it going to be submitted at the moment though this may not be the default - unless I can work out your idea which would be better smile;) smile:)

I think it's destined to be a slow one - some just are. Those are probably the ones more likely to get used in high end projects though. The rigging DVDs I have been learning from are for feature films as opposed to gaming or television and it is really amazing how much attention is paid to detail and quality in that industry.

I think that means yours is about 60% faster than mine but I'm not good with that kind of thing - it could be 40% faster. smile:?:
No wait. I divided 39.82 by 162 and got .245. I think that means your's is 75% faster. smile:( smile:|
Anyway, it's faster. That's something to keep in mind when you are designing.

While I'm in this learning Maya mode speed is the least of my concerns. Most of the time the computer just stares back at me waiting on me to do something. smile:deer:
If I would have been in school I would have fallen hopelessly behind. I would be devastated and hating myself for being so stupid. That's why it's better for me to learn by myself. Even though I'm slow on the uptake, the fact is, I eventually do get it. smile:D

[I get the impression your a big brain but hard on yourself smile;) smile:) ] doing it yourself is the best way to learn, there are things which can be much easier if pointed out and you think of course that was obvious, if I've got large pictures to follow I'm fine smile:D

You got me all wrong Carl. I don't want to be quick. I trying to be an artist not a f-king technician. I want things to be hard - I want to fight the whole time and earn every bit. I'm going to leave this world a spent force. smile:) That is, after I take it over! smile:D
