3 cylinder shapes with that one cause I added the liquid. That one sits in side so is harder to see. The mug is made up from 2 Cylinders and one torus. You have these boolean settings that you change and kinda invert one of the cylinders so it makes a hollow space inside the other.

um no, closed that one but will have a look in the bowl one have open now.

That is very interesting. I do not use booeans very often, but I have used them. They can be a little unpredictable and can generate some crazy tessellation that takes a long time to repair.

yep had a few errors and had to do a couple of rebuilds because I forgot to do little steps like set one object to positive so the negative one would work.. smile:(

I think he's working on a new series of filters called 'The Transformed Man' – each filter in the set will be dedicated to William Shatner's version of 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' and will be marked by dramatic pauses while rendering. smile:)

i'll voluteer to wax it! smile:D

and re your philisophical discussion, i'd say it's not so much 'environmental' (which is really a cop-out excuse and doesnt take into account man's hurt on man. the whole 'environment is responsible for all' is bull crap.) as it is human nature with a heavy grunge filter applied smile:D

ok, i see where we're disagreeing or not quite lining up here. 'environment' can have several meanings. i was taking it as just the physical environment, like the land, sea, weather and so on. you're taking it as including people.

so, ok, with that in mind, then sure, there are influences from environment, always. but it's also true that different people respond differently to the same influence(s). one person seeing a speeding car coming towards them may just freeze up in a panic, while another might dash out of the way. so, environment isnt the only factor.

'human nature' is too vague and ambiguous to make much of a good arguement with, one way or the other. you need better terminology and definitions and defined parameters to really argue these things well.

He just injured it. Carl's corner will never die. smile:)

I backtracked too far from my original position. Imo, awareness and morality are largely innate and exist on a spectrum. I have seen, and this is purely anecdotal, children that are fully realized. They can look at other people and tell if they are good or bad. No environment, no matter how rotten can turn them into bad people, but it may make them crazy. While others are born so bad that the best that can be hoped for, with enough love and compassion, is that they will act civilized.
Just like the big E was gifted with aptitude and capacity for understanding the universe, some children have more or less capacity for morality.

I like both, Bryce has far more scope though. Were as Terragen is just terrain images unless you add stuff to it after in a paint package.

Did this one this morning is a night time picture.

smile;) Might be because them images was 35000x25000 pixels and took about 10 to 30 hours too render, and I had the settings for quality up high for the Terragen ones too.
With Bryce I kept them at medium and the images are a lot smaller think the last two was something like 940x700 something pixles. First one was 640x480.

Here is a DVD that looks like it covers the basics and it is not dedicated to any particular application.

I spent too much time trying to avoid learning programming and it was a mistake. I do not want to be a programmer, not at all, but the things I want to do require that I learn some programming - without programming, my projects would look just like everyone else's. I would like to be learning Python but I am stuck with mel for a while longer.

I don't know. smile:| But I will use it as a way to learn compositing. I'm still staying focused on my Maya project, but I want to spend time on the big picture as well. I would like to spend half my time on Maya, half on big picture things like compositing, half on other details like camera tracking and photography, and the other half on RL issues like family and food. smile:D

I did not find the graphics software I was looking for so I made this filter. It should work just fine but I would like to use the command line renderer to increment the rotate, move, color depth, etc. sliders. So the spokes move around, change colors and begin and end in a certain location. Before I post a question in the creating filters forum can anyone tell me if that is possible? From the manual it looks as though I would need to create a preset for each setting but that would require thousands of presets. smile:eek:

Hey Carl, if I figure out a way to automatically generate a bunch of stills with my filter, would Flash be able to take those images and make a .flv or .mov video with them?
I would like to have it spinning in one position and changing colors, with the alpha on the inside (I added a slider to move the alpha from the inside to the outside), then move in an arc to a new position with the alpha on the outside.
Something like this:

Absolutely - you can import PSD's or AI's intact with there layers, as well as jpegs, pngs - etc, or import a folder of consecutive numbered images, you can import a .bmp and turn it into a vector image [ Flash is a vector program ]. I' ll send you my first .flv as I can't attach it here. Flash is an excellent program that needs some fixes as it has crashed 4 or 5 times smile:evil:

The samples have white as the alpha. I'm not sure how to get the alpha out. When I save an FF image as a tiff or png then open it in PS the aplha channel is in tact but not applied. smile:?:

It is probably silly to try to use FF as an animating package. That's why I'm reluctant to ask in the 'Creating Filters' forum. I ask so many silly questions then want to crawl into a hole. smile:|
