This regions claim to fame is tornadoes. smile:|

My house is kind-of flimsy. Here we call them trailer houses or mobile homes. Do you have them in Australia? This one is more than thirty years old so a good wind can make things interesting. smile:D We have holes in the ground and hide in them during tornadoes.

It does but I think I would need a lot longer than one month to try it out plus a couple of extra braincells to rub together..

Hey Ron here's the first section of my Bryce week two class work, its not the homework assignment though, there's about 3-4 pages of class work before I get to that part lol!

It's fine but I do not know why it needed to be ZBrush. Maya has a tool called the 'Sculpt Geometry' tool that allows you to make mesh deformations using a paint brush. I'm sure there was a good reason to use ZBrush but in this instance I do not understand it.

Looking good. I like how you texture everything. That's someting I never bother to do. Did you do that with polygons or nurbs? Did you make the deformations by pulling on mesh components (like vertices or CVs) or did you use a paint brush tool?

Um... Hello... have we met? smile;) smile:D..

Okay what I did was used the built in functions they have for smoothing, changing shapes etc etc, then used one of the terrain textures. Mind this was what was asked for, in the lesson. Now am playing with sunlight, but messed around first and did a red rock like rugged mountain kinda image. Lol if you want I could see if I can get a picture of the wire frames smile;) smile:D probably would be a screen shot though.

When you open the screen to pick the textures you have these tabs you can pull to add/change light, reflections, refractions, metal etc, also a more advanced function that allows you to mix different textures together to make a new texture for the image your working on. Although them are more advanced than the class am taking. Will do something more interesting for the screen shot at the moment all that's showing is 3 shapes, a circle, cylinder and square, doing the next stage of this weeks class work lol.

That sounds good. Thanks for the explanation of how the textures are edited.

Here are some mountains I just did. The good news is that it took less than five minutes, the bad news is that it sucks.

I think because I played with the 2 month demo's for Vue 6 that was why I had issues with getting my head around Bryce, but now I am doing this class things are starting to click in place.

So what are the questions Ron? No clue if I can answer them but you never know smile;)

I think you're getting a handle on things remarkably fast. Maybe it was because my introduction to 3d was to rig a cartoon character for a feature film, but it seemed more complicated for me. In retrospect, the attrition with that approach may be fairly high. Your approach seems much more peaceful. smile:)

Shhh don't tell Bryce but I still want Vue but well Bryce was only $40 with the discount and sale etc so I opted for that to keep my quiet until I make enough money to get the Vue version I really want.

hey you guys do you know if there is any other compression software that uses the .zip extension like winzip or is that the only one?

Trying to find out cause one of the sites that I was uploading a few things to for sale only use .zip and my winzip trial has expired and they wont let me pay by paypal because I don't live in America smile:(. Hate using my card online.

Tried a test with 7zip but didn't seem to work, unless I did something wrong, which is highly possible.

I checked. smile:) It has a 'click to agree to continue' button but I always agree to continue. There is some mumbo jumbo about blah blah but it says the same as all EULAs 'click here to continue'. That's all I ever agree to. You pay for compression software when you purchase the OS. If MS has failed to work that out with PK then that's MS's problem not mine. smile:-p

Think they have changed the set up with the newer versions then cause they have a timer in them and then you get a message saying you cant use this because the time has expired. I did find a version 9 online and took the version 11.2 off my computer and rebooted it earlier, then got distracted by real life smile;). Will put that on and see if it works like the one you have. I remember having a version years ago that did that as well but that was on my other computer.

So yes the new versions after the trial period you pay smile:( and it says on the web site this is not free software etc etc.

heya Ron yes was done in Bryce, lol I wasn't to happy with how the texture on the mountains came out but the Tutor of the class was happy.. so um lol!

Mind seems like there are only two of us doing this basic class, but only me is handing stuff in.. kinda OMG!! I liked it with the Xenodream class because there was a few of us, well 5 of 6 of us I think.. much more fun when there are a few learning together because you can bounce idea's of each other.
