But here's the smaller version of the image, did the original at 2500x3500 poster size.

Wow! smile:D You really hit the ground running with Daz. How did you do that? What are the basic steps required to put something like that together?

Carl must be working on his upcoming 'Muskrat Love' filter series.

Each description will begin with:

Nibbling on bacon, chewin' on cheese
Sammy says to Susie "Honey, would you please be my missus?"
And she say yes
With her kisses

And will end with a different quote from Bob Costas.

I hear FF is going to send them out in their 'Adorable' filter pack. smile:fairy:

Well, Carl's grunge filter download count is inflated due to the EP. But as you can see from this image it is still less then half that of my grunge filter. smile:-p

Um that would have been Daz having a sale on.. although am going broke with it. Only had so much money in my second life account and think have very little of that left in my paypal now smile:(, and it's only day 4 of the one day sales!!

She was one of the products I purchased but I used a hair style I already had from the Akio 3 character, plus used a back ground scene I got for $0.94 in the October sales, and added a few trees. Then used one of the poses for Victoria 4.

this is the elf girl
http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/el...ta=rl&_m=d

but you don't get the hair with her just the shape, clothing, some props, skin's eye colours etc.. I so need to buy up hair! lol but they cost a bit so I need to hold out and keep an eye out for the hair styles I want just in case they get added to the sale.

Thank you for the walk through Beliria. I had no idea how you did that. I notice some geometry pinching at the armpits - is that something you have control over? In other words, are the models you purchase rigged in a way that will allow you to reposition them?

Here is a composition that is interesting. Not only is it good but here is a detailed explanation of how it was done. The artist Alp Altiner used Photoshop, Maya and ZBrush.

Especially interesting is how the scene moves from Maya to zbrush to photoshop.

I should not have said reposition; I should have said are the models setup in a way that will allow you to change the skin weighting. smile:blush:

I notice in the description it says – 'Brimming with details and morph targets'. Are the targets only for facial expressions or are you able to morph other things as well? Plus – it says – 'and MAT poses for both Poser and DAZ Studio'. What are MAT poses? smile:|

Disregard that previous post. smile:evil: There is another, seldom discussed, statistic called UD (usage density). And while it may eventually be determined that your grunge filter has more downloads than mine, my filter's UD rating is not only the highest of all the FF filters but it is more than double the nearest competitor. smile:-p

you guys are way freaking ahead of me with that 3D stuff. but very cool looking elves and scenes. just that maya smooth mesh is impressive. that looks like a TON of polygons. and that painting in photoshop. that took some doing also! impressive stuff.

It's not as difficult as you might think. The smooth mesh was done using a low polygon proxy, so easy it's almost trivial, and the painting in PS is almost all pieced together photographs of rocks. The real trick is in the compositing.

A key thing these two images make clear is how important it is for artists to use their imagination throughout the entire process.

It would be easy to write off the model as low quality.

Before seeing it with textures.

I bet your 40D would take some excellent texture images. I guess the trick is to capture the image with flat lighting. Are there many cloudy days were you live?

Wind is my nemesis, mostly sunny with a splattering of cloud at this time of year, usually with a mild breeze [ enough to make it hard to take bracketed shots where a breeze moves anything ] - tempatures 25 to 30 C but warming up to be between 30 and 40 C and up to 45.

Wind

Same here. This is one of the windiest parts of the States. Wind farms are going up all over the place. Sometimes it's better to just go with it and capture the blur but that will not work with textures. It would be nice to have one of those super heavy duty tripods from B&H but they cost way too much.

Not very. it will get down to 10C once or twice per year. The record low is -26C but that has only happened once in my life. I used to live in Minneapolis MN and it got much colder. I remember it at -50C. smile:evil: Have you ever experienced cold like that? It really is something. smile:eek:
