Aside from FilterForge, I use a variety of tools to create various works which usually don't end up here. They always end up on websites like deviantART and my wordpress blog.

REGARDLESS of those links above, I'll post up images that are totally unrelated to FilterForge.

To top it off, here's a fractal I made using Artmatic 4. Artmatic 4 lets you create your own recursions pretty easily. It has well over 400 nodes and does weird things that no other program does.

Anyway, this one's an original fractal made based on a recursion.

There is nothing so simple that I cannot complicate it. I try to think of it as a gift.

So... I'm returning to this forum thread again given I just feel like posting more "non-filterforge art" here. Hello forum thread, it's been a long time... way too long since the last update. Here are just some of the experimental things I've been making since.

Blobs made with Modo701.

WOW!! This 3D blobs are beautiful, love how you have used the colors.

I was going to test Modo 701, BUT I have not done it because I will not be able to buy it at $1200, EVEN now that until 23 december night there is a 40% discount offer, it still costs $897, way too much to expend on a software smile:( considering that I do not work for money just now.

If you're on a budget, try Blender first. Carrara does as much as well, it's got a great modeling toolset as well as Hexagon. In a sense, I feel like you'd enjoy Carrara a lot. It's capable, very enjoyable, just lacks a couple things. Personally, I began doing a lot of 3D with the old Metacreations tools, that includes RayDreamStudio (lol) and eventually Carrara. I basically think "it's good enough."

---Some rambling---
I feel some people argue that you need high end software all the time, but so far, I'm not convinced. While "everything" is impossible, with a bit of technique and thought, I can definitely do what Modo does in Carrara. I often feel people don't need $800... $3000 tools to do "high end" work. People seem to bloat the idea that getting something worth more results in better quality. That's not the case with software. I've seen people blow away $3000 on Cinema where they only use probably 15% of the tools offered. I just think people should get cleaver with what they already have rather than drooling for more. In the end, we're all human and we're susceptible to wants so I can't avoid myself looking and drooling at new software. But I gotta work with what I got. That to me is professional. smile:) Life's all good with one or two tools. Love everything.
-------------------

Blender has been enjoyable as well. I do use Blender occasionally for some of it's elements but for the most part I'm settled using Modo, Maya, or Cinema4D.

I now spend Sundays painting parts of my comic: Particles.

The entire project utilizes quite a number of artistic styles and mediums. And yes, tons of FilterForge used! smile:)

I really don't know when I'll finish the comic at this rate, but it's quite a tough task accomplishing each thing of painting. In regard to otherwise, what really helps is procedural stuff. FilterForge in this case was mildly used to determine where moss growth should be based on the original image. I then just paint right on top of where stuff goes and it really looks natural but with taste.

Just to introduce bits of the story, basically it's about my character Cosmos the soulless (my avatar picture = character), who's on an adventure to find his soul in a surreal world.

Been a while I posted anything here.

I made some motion graphics pieces for a bunch of music performances. Although the stills already looked ok so here's just some of it.

Alright, time to revive this thread again. I've been working on a series of experimental digital paintings using alternative techniques to regular paint methods.

I call the series SideTrip featuring two characters, a human and a god of concealment in a lonely universe. It has several deeper things going on in it but again, this is just a painting experiment.

Here's what I did yesterday:

Almost all the pictures I've made so far is available online on Behance. If you like it, hit the appreciate button at the bottom!
https://www.behance.net/gallery/273012...nd-Nothing

And to answer SpaceRay's now over 1 year old question: made it with Modo. Just cubes arranged like cities and with an shader to produce the neon effect. The work is relatively simple honestly, I try to not take time on each painting / work since I'm more focused on the concept. The unfortunate part of it all is that I only got so much time to make these. So the time limit is 3 hours per week on 1 painting (or if I can go for more I'll try).

This one's a bit old. I made this in 30 minutes or something but it's basically just a test image for shader setups I made.
Cinema4D and IndigoRT renderer.

Specifically the shader settings utilize real-world captures of specular-reflection values, hence metallic objects look very convincing.

What's big right now: VR. What's really interesting right now: How to get hand-painted art into VR.

I'm currently constructing a technique to help 2D artists get on the VR train without re-learning everything they know about what they do!

So I worked with Meghan Boehman, a good friend of mine who does background art, to try using a specific method I put together. Frankly, the method's very simple... but it's extremely effective. Any 2D artist who understands perspective can utilize this technique. Currently it's a work in progress so I'm kinda not explaining it fully... sorry (part of it is mildly company business). So check what happened here:

http://www.meghanboehman.com/blog/i-painted-in-360

Or you can cut straight to the video in question here:

(I suspect you have to use Google Chrome so you can rotate in the scene.

I have no experience with AE, but it makes me want to dig into VVVV again! Nice one! smile:)

Those 'TimeLapse' series of videos you have are really interesting too. All the hours of work and details effortlessly glossed over and compressed into minutes. What better way of convincing kids they want to become computer artists. Look ma, its just that easy. smile:D
