I use FilterForge to create textures for 3D models that i create in Blender, are there any other filters (Photoshop) or programs that i should look up? I still consider myself a newbie
![]() My favorite programs so far are: FilterForge PixelPlant (to make seamless textures from anything) RedField's iEmboss (PS filter, great for brining out depth, making clean textures dirtier) CrazyBump I'm sure there are many other programs out there just as good or better that i'm missing out on ![]() A filter that i would like to have is something that can mix 2 or more textures together, like the blending options in PS but as a filter so you very quickly could browse though all different effects that could be possible. |

I use FilterForge for practical art stuff and also textures on occasion. I personally like FilterForge the best becuase of its super clean interface that doesn't clog your brain. It's layout is superior and the number of user-created material is amazing.
But there's more out there: If you really want to get into the weirder stuff there's Artmatic pro for mac. It's just the weirdest program you'll ever run into. It can make anything and everything. Aside from that there's Dark Tree 2.5 which is good, but hasn't been developed for a while. IF you have photographs you want to make seamless, there's ImageSynth 2 by Luxology. You mentioned the rest of the interesting stuff. Crazy Bump is just joy. |

I find that I pretty much don't use other pshop filters now that I use FF. (You can make something similar iEmboss in FF, for example.)
The one big exception to that, though, is Redfield Perfectum. It can take a nasty jpeg-ed image and make it all smooth and useful. Zbrush is actually very useful as a texture making application, although most people don't use it that way. Check out: http://www.pixologic.com/zclassroom/homeroom/ and watch the video called 'Tileable textures/maps Keep in mind that you can drop any kind of 3d model into that, not just be limited to the sculpt tools. |

I hated Imagesynth, i found the interface to be quite confusing, pixplant was much better imo, imagesynth might have more options though..
Never tried Perfectum, but i usually don' work with low quality .jpeg's. Zbrush is so fun to use ![]() |
