Thanks guys, I have only had two people report that they have beaten it so far... TWO!!!!
![]() This is the last game I am going to make for a while, but the smile game was just buying me some time to finish this. Aether: Episode One P.S. I blatantly use filters from FF on this one; however, I give credit at the end to FF and all of the Forum Members. Also I didn't just use presets, so if I stepped on anyone's toes because I used your free filter I am sorry ![]() Seriously though, FF is amazing, I couldn't have the game have half the ambience without it. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

cool
![]() a few suggestions, though. allow music to be turned off. this can drive me crazy on things like this. the game field is larger than my screen size, so it doesnt all fit in my view (1024x768). and why did you orient the coordinate system with 90 at the top? normally 0/360 is at the top of these things. oh, and dont auto advance your instruction pages. let the user turn them. and if the text of the instructions was just a touch larger, that would be good, too. and just as a side note, i thought when i saw this game for the first time, that it was going to be a replica of an old video arcade game. no, not asteroids, though that does come to mind, too. i used to play an arcade game that was a ship about the size you have, flying around on the screen that you controlled. there was a sun in the middle, with gravity, and eneemy ships that would fly in and shoot at you. the gravity would tend to pull everyone toward the middle. you could fire about 5 shots at once, but only five could be active at any one time. the shots were affected by gravity, also. you had controls to rotate and accelerate and fire your ship. if you wanted to slow down, you had to rotate facing the oppoosite direction and apply thrust. it was a very cool game, especially for its time. it also had some options you could incorporate, like screen wrap-around, no sun, heavy gravity and some other things. quite fun ![]() at any rate, thanks for the game ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Like KGtheway showed, I based the system off the unit circle in hopes to teach students the conventional angular notation... so maybe it is already working
![]() You are the second person to suggest I make it small ![]() *Edit* Fixed the size issues, and sound issue. The website will default to 400X400 but those of us who are monitor inclined can still play at 700X700. Also I was thinking of making a game like the one you describe for fun, it might be a few months but I will post when done. AI is a bugger to try and implement with a game like that though ![]() |

well, i dont know about conventional angular notation, but when i was growing up and going to school, i only remember 360/0 being at the top, ever. but, ok, you were obviously taught different. i'll get used to it.
also, you've got some typos in the new little intro message. and, i suck at this ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Typos are fun!
I posted this on a game forum and all the critism I have recieved has been frustration that the game isn't easy. Frankly speaking this makes me happy ![]() So be happy Kraellin to know your not alone; however, if you type in "polar bear" into the password section you may find that will help a bit, not much but a bit ![]() P.S. I suck too. I just played it and got to level 5, but I made a lot of mistakes, I got to level 9 on a good day though ![]() |

Excellent
![]() Damn I'm having troubles with 12, 14 and 15 - solved the rest. I noticed a few bugs: sometimes a click fails to update the internal logic, but the images update and sometimes freezes with sunglasses on. When this happens, the "reset level" function also fails to reset those areas. Its not easy to reproduce, but I think it only happens with fast double clicks. It might be due to latency when flash updates the graphics, so it can't update the graphics again before the last update has executed, but the boolean logic is updated independently and faster.. dunno. I fought with similar issues once and ended up making everything event based - annoying when you're used to good ol' serial programming techniques ![]() |

Flash is prone to bugs, even if the code is flawless, I will check to see if I can reproduce the bug

Me too, I can always get 1 smiley face left but then what ![]() Also my brother who is an PHD in Mathematics at Iowa State said he had to use linear algebra to solve some of the puzzles, so good luck ![]() |

![]() that 2nd one listed there, red, has a bug. after about 3 rounds, you get a rack where their bombs are dropping from somewhere hidden. you can even shoot all their visible invaders and still have bombs coming at you, but you cant see the source and seemingly cant shoot it either. still, cool ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
