Hi,
I am new here. I am not an artist, I am an msc student and want to do a very simple game. I noticed some very nice textures on this website and I was wondering was are the conditions of use. I am not sure to understand, we can buy each texture for 7 dollars ? or a complete pack ? or this has nothing to do ? what are these "filters" ?

Also, I have seen in an other topic that people are complaining for their textures to be used somewhere else. What I want is just to use some of these texture for a personal project (not commercial at all), do I have the right ?

Thank you !

Yup, that's fine.....just download the free demo and check it out.....

Those "complaints" are just about people who are rendering out straight textures and reselling them in texture packs without any creative input to them.....perfectly legal to do under the current EULA.....but alot of authors want that restricted.....which would have absolutely no affect on creative use applications like you are doing......

The textures on the website are previews of the effects the filters produce. They should not be taken from the website and used for your projects.

If you wish to obtain the textures you need to download Filter Forge and use it to render the textures you want. By using the filters in Filter Forge you can easily make more unique textures of your own too. You have 30 days trial after which you will have to buy Filter Forge but there are some very basic versions of Filter Forge which are very inexpensive if you do not want to get into the filter creation part of Filter Forge and only want to use the filters to create textures.

Your intended use appears to be in line with the current EULA if you render the textures yourself in Filter Forge. smile:)

take a look at this page: http://www.filterforge.com/buy/ . that will give a pretty good idea of what you may want.

Filter Forge is a program that produces textures and image effects (on imported images). those textures and effects can be rendered out, many in seamless tiling, for the owner to use as he/she pleases. with the larger versions, you can also create your own filters, and naturally, use as you wish, as well. with the smaller versions, you can only use filters from the library.

the controversy you were talking about is one over the end-user-license-agreement or EULA. currently, it is as steve said, there are no restrictions of using the actual renderings of any filter forge program.

to take them (the displayed textures on the web pages) directly off this/these web pages would be a violation of copyright law, however. seee this page for more on that: http://www.filterforge.com/termsofuse.html
