Okay as the title implies I am simply asking and will not do unless 100% in the up and up. Is it legal/moral to trade HU for montary or software rewards with parties who may want free upgrades for life. I have just so many HU that will never be used and am just seeing if I could somehow use them to get PS or some cash.

Again, if this isn't right I will not do this; but it is worth asking.

If it is moral, is there anyone interested in a trade smile:)

I like how FF tries to reward people that help their cause (e.g. of having a library of quality filters).

But if you trade your rewards to where you gain something but FF does not gain anything (and potentially loses something), then I tend to feel FF’s kindness may be getting exploited -- where I initially feel this leans more towards something slightly immoral.

To try to illustrate a contrast: I think StevieJ may have donated some of his HU rewards to a noobie FF author, where he felt that artist had potential (to whom which could lead to enriching the community, but also while StevieJ, himself, gained nothing).

This is just my initial reaction, where I don’t feel too strongly about my opinions (as it does seem kind of gray). But you asked and I felt an urge to give a knee-jerk reply. (Meanwhile, if nothing else, I already respect you for inquiring…)

ssamm, you forget, FF does get something. they got your filters that got you those HU's. so, there is no loss of exchange to anyone. and in steve's case, i tend to feel steve shld put more value on his HU's he's giving away. sorry, steve smile:) i do think it's an exceptional thing you're doing when you give those away to aspiring texture artists, but i also think it devalues the program in those folk's minds since they did little to nothing to earn those reward points. i could see giving away one to someone as an incentive, or offer to sell them at an 'educational' level (largely discounted), but giving them away seems a bit out-exchange to you, old man smile;)

I tend to agree with Craig - Red you put the hard work into earning them, adding to the overall saleability of FF, you own those points and what you do with them is up to you and I can't see filter Forge having any concerns as far as how you dispose of them, they have awarded the HU's for people to get copies of the program and you can assign them to who ever you like how ever you like........... just my opion smile;) smile:)

Thanks guys, I think you have echoed my own sentiments perfectly. FF does gain with each of my HU, heck if I could "sell" my HU I would be actively posting more filters. The only question is how do I line up a potential "buyer" smile:)

Red, I think the "cash for HUs" thing might be a tad over the line from FF's intent.....but gifting a copy in exchange for a host/complimentary graphics program might be a little more acceptable.....IMHO..... smile;) smile:)

I wouldn't cash it out, just given a price equivalent. If you can get professional version of filterforge for 3 HU that puts 1 HU at an equivalence of $100. So I was just saying I would trade 12-13 HU for PS, which equivalent of me trading $1200 for PS. So I agree with, just getting desperate for PS smile;) smile:D

It's wrong, mainly since I don't seem to get many HU points from my snippets. smile:evil:

i agree with the snippets part, uber. i made a suggestion to FF to tag all filters with a more or less hidden code that would track when a snippet gets used in another filter and thereby give credit to the snippet. i hope FF does something along those lines.
