Just something that appeared when a topic of the General Discussions Forum went WAY off topic:

ok, sounds kind of cool. what do you mean by the first account is free? ok, i know what it means, but are there limitations to a 'first account' or restrictions of some kind? and, what would be the advantages of having a second account, since i assume that some must be doing that?

Each account is a sort of 'Personality', each has a name, and each lets you connect to SL under that name. So if you wish to try out Second life, you go to Lindens webpages and create an account, you select its name consisting of a first name and a surname, where you can select the first name freely, and the surname from a list of choices, and thats your account. If you wish later for whatever reasons of your own to create a second personality, the ones after the first cost you a minimal fee to create, at least, if you're honest and tell Linden you're getting a secondary account.

What the advantages of having a second account are ? Well, suppose you have a bad day and would like to go shoot people on the combat sims, and don't want it connected to your main person. Just create a second account and go have fun smile:-) Or maybe you want to have an account to sell things, and account for private time where you do NOT want your customers constantly interrupting you to ask why their WonderGizmo just turned red? The reasons for having a second account are probably as many as there are secondary accounts.

For now, its probably easiest you just get yourself a single account, and try it out, you can always decide if you want to have further accounts later on smile:)

As for me, First Life is nice,... but I still want to be able to fly smile:D And if you thought Teleport on SL sucked, wait until you've tried the first life version smile:cry: I will admit the resolution is pretty good. smile;)

Just thought I'd say hi! I saw this thread and am enthused to see that you're already a Resident in Second Life, Miavir... awhile back when I first came upon Filter Forge, I was wondering why it wasn't more popular in SL yet, since it's SUCH an awesome tool for generating seamless textures, and doing so much more.

If your curiosity leads you inworld (meaning, "in Second Life"), I recommend giving it some time, like a relaxed weekend, and see what you make of it. I could use the old Matrix analogy that I can't explain parts of it to you, that you have to experience it to understand.

Disclaimer here is that I work for Second Life's company, Linden Lab. :o)
I'm enjoying using Filter Forge to create http://torley.com/textures

We (well...my wife) are just in the process of developing a second life store (hopefully opening in the new year). It seems a bit of a natural extension of the products i already make. So we have been exploring this and trying to find the best way to merge the mediums smile:)
I am sure we will use alot of FF filters in that persuit.
You work for second life Torely? Thats cool. In what aspect do you work?

So Torley, tell me, when can we expect to see FForge like on-the-fly texture creation in SL ?

smile:D
