I think that now that FF 9 supports PBR and the result component has been updagred to support 3D export for Unity and Unreal and other 3D software.
So you can use FF 9 PBR export to make “fake” 3D aspect textures using just render maps there is this very interesting and useful explanation made by the expert Skybase Bump vs Normal vs Displacement https://filterforge.com/forum/read.php?FID=5&TID=10328 And I can add more options that are also available apart of these 3 Bump Map Normal Map Height Map Displacement mapping Parallax mapping Parallax Occlusion Mapping (POM) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwc2-iYSVPc After 0:55 Steep Parallax Mapping https://casual-effects.com/research/Mc...index.html Relief Normal mapping https://youtu.be/xV0Z-ceO6U0 Relief Texture Mapping (RTM) https://www.inf.ufrgs.br/~oliveira/RTM.html https://forum.unity.com/threads/fabio-...tes.32451/ screen space displacement mapping https://youtu.be/xUQkO0zcsOc Substance 3D materials with height maps show 3D objects that do not exist and are really a texture For example this VHS tapes texture looks like the videotape is totally real in 3D but it is not https://www.artstation.com/artwork/wXnRw RD- TEXTURE Amazing fake 3D very realistic grounds and textures that are not real meshes https://www.rd-textures.com/ Per-Pixel Displacement Mapping with Distance Functions http://download.nvidia.com/developer/...2_ch08.pdf I will put more examples of these later Sorry that I can I do not explain the difference between all these ones, as this a very long topic and there are LOTS of different information about this that explains how each of them work and how they can be used, and will also depend on what 3D software you may be using |
