I think I have written wrong the title of this thread, because this could be misleading, and the right title really would have been:
Do you know about Engrish? (not wrong written) See here what this is ![]() But I can´t change it unless GMM can do it, if yes, please do it. Thanks. |

I do not think that you Engrish all day, because you can write and speak (in the video tutorials) really very well english and if you did not tell that you are japanese I would not have noticed, and you have even better english than me. |

I am from the UK and most English people here can't even speak their own language correctly these days. Most of the funny images on the web would have been Photoshop'd also.
I would like to see English speaking people try to do the same though and try to talk Japanese etc. In general the best most people could usually manage is to say very basic things like hello, goodbye and a few common words like food etc. |

LOL, those are great, Ray!
You'll find hilarious mistranslations in any language. Even JFK made a whopper in West Berlin, proclaiming "Ich bin ein Berliner!" (I am a Berliner) - which translated into "I am a jelly doughnut!" ![]() |

This is true and I can tell you that this ALSO happens in Spain, as I have found many signs written in some shops and restaurants that the English translations is NOT the same as the Spanish writing and although is not as bad as the japanese english translation is also badly done and sometimes confusing.
This is true ![]() ![]() |

Lol, no clue what it originally says, but google translator definetly turns it into Engrish.

'Ich bin ein Berliner' does not mean 'I am a jelly donut' any more than 'I am a New Yorker' would mean 'I am a pretentious magazine'.
The whole Jelly donut thing was due to people who were trying to be clever but were actually stupid ('Ich bin Berliner' is the correct way someone from Berlin would say they are, 'Ich bin ein Berliner' would seem to imply he is claiming to be the the object Berliner ie the donut, as the definitive article 'ein' is omitted when referring to one's residence, however as Kennedy was using the phrase in a figurative sense rather than literal, as he was not actually from Berlin, the definitive article is still required and so 'Ich bin ein Berliner' was correct), and was propagated by fuckwitted American journalists with the fact-checking abilities on a chimpanzee. Also, in Berlin, a jelly donut is called a Pfannkuchen anyway. Release the Mongoose! |

I found this thread by chance searching for another thing and went back to the Engrish.com website and have seen that now it has 879 PAGES instead of the 650 it had in 2012
I think that this is not an offence or bad thing against the people that really do not speak english and try to translate their own language to english and fail at it. It is funny to see it. I think that surely if WE would have to write in Chinese, Japanese, or any other complex language would make even more funnier errors. On the newest ones is this funny one, where is Prohibited to eat the carpet, there are already restaurants and bars in the airport, so not eat the carpet, apart it surely tastes very bad. Also you can´t bring your own carpet from home to eat it here ![]() ![]() ![]() there is a prize to the one that is able to understand it ![]() and this I do not know what is prohibited, how can you carry into the dog? ![]() ![]() I think that if you make such a complete board like this, you should ask a english person to correct or to write it, to avoid making such big errors ![]() I did not know that toliets gets worried and troubled very much ![]() ![]() ![]() Can anyone explain the purpose and how to use it? ![]() Well enough for now |
