Expect some amazing to happen.
http://www.fxguide.com/featured/whats...ch-of-adf/ If anybody was around SpaceRay a while ago threw a discussion about Mischief paint program which hosts a near infinitely zoomable canvas and boasts resolution independence unlike a raster paint program. The technology in use is what's called ADF or Adaptively Sampled Distance Fields. Fr om the article:
Interestingly the Foundry's Brad Peebler apparently looked into reaching several programmers including Timur Baysal (Taron) the guy involved in making the fluid dynamics paint program Verve. And also Thomas Pattersson who's responsible for the free 3D sculpting program Sculptris now developed by Pixologic as a introductory program to Zbrush. If anything, it's quite interesting to see wh ere all that goes. While much of what I'm saying probably won't reach everybody's minds the technology is pretty much already in use on your tablets and so on. Though this time round, the uses are artistic, which has a whole new meaning for things like 3D sculpting, modeling, texturing, and perhaps even rendering. For those of you who don't know, The Foundry are the key folks who make the compositing program Nuke. It's a industry standard for compositing shots for feature films and otherwise. The Foundry is also the developer of the 3D program I use, Modo. So seeing Mischief enter the family of high-end products is a welcoming sign. Mischief by the way is $25. If you like drawing, go buy it! ![]() |
