On 10th December I got an email from the MacPhun software company showing the new amazing and awesome photography editor tool they have just released and is really stunning and jawdroping the results that they are showing as examples of before and after.
It is called INTENSIFY All the information about it is here The slogan is "Reveal details never seen before in digital photography"
AND this software does not cost much as you may think for the quality given, only $30 for standalone version and $60 for the Pro version with Photoshop plugin. What amazes me is the excellent quality results shown in the examples from the plain original AND how is easy seems to be able to get this effects PRESETS There are already included many presets to get a direct and just one click effect applied to your images Go to KEY FEATURES tab and then go the Presets part and there is the original photo at the right and in the left there is some presets that you can click and see the result of that preset and how different it becomes after and be amazed by the quality and all the details that are brought up. BEFORE & AFTER BUT, what is even more stunning and awesome is the examples given in the Before & After tab There is white line in the middle that you CAN MOVE with the grey button slider that is just below and so you can very easily compare the before and after of the effects. Also you can change the example photo using the left or right arrows, and choose one the 6 photos available. Is really amazing how from a foggy and cloudy photos you can get such clarity and amount of detail as shown here below is one of the examples ![]() |

Here below is about the foggy and cloudy example I know that this images examples has been taken and chosen carefully for showing the software in the best way, but I think that they are great and do not think this is for cheating anyone. ![]() |

Just a side note: Lightroom / ACR does similar, you can tinker values and get pretty impressive results similar to this.
![]() [edit] just that some parameters in that program are probably more dedicated towards pumping up an image's appearance. |

Well, I tried to something similar with Photoshop and Topaz, Nik and OnOne software and although you can get some good quality presets and results, is not at the same high quality level of this software and I have some foggy photos that can not recover as shown here, maybe is because I have not yet learned how to do it. I have to say that really I have used very little Lightroom, but now that I have version 5 and also now a few days ago (cybermonday) I got some very good Lightroom presets that I still have not used |

It's not that difficult enhancing appearances and boosting lights and darks of photographs via Photoshop alone. Increasing contrast, manual dodging and burning and some more manual retouches would really do some magic. Of course, you can always just deal with it in camera at the spot by taking a great photograph from the start. You can do everything this software offers in Photoshop alone. And as a reminder, most features boasted by 3rd party photography-plugin/software developers are definitely doable in Photoshop by itself. ![]() Just don't let yourself fall over the preset trap. Presets only know somethings. It doesn't know what's best for your photographs/designs nor does it care about anything. It's always useful having personal presets that correct certain habits you have with pictures or recurring issues but they're useless to everybody else out there. Presets are nothing more than just things that demo features or just a starting point if somebody else made them. Presets are best useful when you make them for yourself. But anyway aside the ideal talk n stuff that software's nice. |

I think that one of the main attractive thing about this software is that it does NOT need to have Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture or any other host to work, and the plugin is totally optional, and it can make an amazing and awesome quality work FOR ONLY ONE payment of $30!!! and you do not need to buy any other additional software.
You could have Filter Forge and this Intensify and make good things
Well I have already some good experience over the years with Photoshop and learnt how to use the lights and darks using "shadow & highlight", using dodging and burning, or using HDR toning or using blend modes to retouch them, but maybe I have always made "normal" and basic things that did not much work, as you say very well, I try to start the work in the best possible way through making a good photo to start so is easier and better.
I agree that you can´t trust and depend totally on the presets, as they are not MAGIC, as and you say well, they will not scan and analize the photo to see how the photo is done (this I have only found available in DxO Labs software) so it will surely not work for any photo, and I think that this must be considered as a starting point and not something that you feed the photo, click preset, and magically you get an excellent result. Also as you say they are good to correct certain things. I also prefer to make my own personal presets |

Just a thought though. I typically spend around 10 to 20 hours editing / retouching a single photograph (if it needs to). But most other things just fly by with a couple clicks. Maybe that program might be worth it haha.
I've made two filters in the past that does similar to this. http://filterforge.com/filters/9812.html http://filterforge.com/filters/9726.html Just some classic techniques ![]() |
