![]() Haha, it seems I got carried away a bit last night. The thing was just too simple and yet stunningly beautiful. ![]() I have sent in this filter yesterday, but it hasnt been processed yet. Named it 'Ooze Rock', but I am open to less cheesy suggestions. And if I continue exploring the variations, this thing may end up having like 20+ presets. --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Btw... Vlad, if you read this! I have submitted the Ooze Rock filter twice. Could you please delete the first submission. It is the one where the Author field reads "by Administrator". Thanks!

I am continously astonished at FF's ability to produce these immensely complex and naturally chaotic images from two rather simple blended noises, just by the use of naturalistic lighting and environment reflections. Wow!

Nice improvement, those 1st half a dozen weren't that great really, no offense, but they started getting better, and the last 3 or 4 look much much better, really sparkly and more authentic/realistic.

Yeah, I spent hours just hitting 'Next Variant' with this filter! It's addictive, and I'm definitely going to do more of these 'Filter Explorations' in the future. Or wait... maybe I should have read that as sarcasm? ![]()
Interesting to read. And no offense taken. I posted these images up here to get opinions after all. Still, although I only got into tweaking the filter after the first few dozen renderings, I already found those first few renderings much more convincing, naturalistic and chaotically interesting than anything 'Stone' I had seen before coming out of FF. Hence my amazement and enthusiam to post the images here. Add to that the fact that the filter itself is very simplistic, and it really makes you think about the possibilities of recreating natural complexity in FF. Fascinating. Anyway, I certainly hope to see even more naturalistic stuff like this... ![]() ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

hehe, no, it wasnt meant sarcastically. in fact, i made one filter purposely for ONLY hitting the 'next variation' button. this was before the addition of the extra controls. i LOADED this thing with tons of controls, completely ignoring the control limit, because, i had found that hitting 'next variation' didnt just change the controls that showed, it changed ALL the control component controls in the editor even when they didnt show up in the interface. so, even when we still had the 10 control limit, i was making filters that had 70 or 80 controls being influenced by 'next variation'. in fact, i think i had one filter that had about 120 or 130 control components

The 5th one from top down looks like some type of tree sap or resin with sandstone encased within it.
