I finally found out how to make a multicolored basket weave, phehhh. But I need suggestions on how to make this better, write now the filter can make a pretty good basket, but it looks more like thread which isn't a bad thing. I just want some feedback on how to improve this puppy.

I really like how you are starting to get the wound vertical rope. I would suggest roughing it up just a little.....  Steve

I think its all in the color/texture work - I think a little tweaking of the colors in your first version will do the trick. Check these reference images:

To look more like a basket, the horizontal weave probably needs a little bit of roundness (like they're flattened out tubes) and a little bit of sheen, if it's to be wicker.
If it's to be straw, then it needs no sheen.
