thanks! smile:)

the color/contrast is a bit off on that one, but wanted to post something up quickly.

now you're beginning to see the method behind the madness of my 'perfect arc' snippet, eh? smile;)

Ah, rain......nice touch..... smile8)

You could also use partial faded rainbows at different angles and arcs with white thunderheads......kinda random.....but alot of times appears like that in reality......

I'm really intrigued because those clouds are very photo-realistic.....and I think you could make all the extras look real too..... smile:devil:

LOL..... No, well.....just to match it with the photo-realism of your clouds.....which might be harder than I thought because your clouds are soooooo good..... smile;) smile:)

thanks, carl smile:) yes, some of those will have little anamolies on them. these are still more or less, rough draft.

steve, excellent idea on the rainbows. i had thought about that last night when you were talking about it and i was looking at mine and i thought, hmmm, always the same arc roughly and always on a horizontal. so, yes, i'll definitiely work on that, maybe even going back to the perfect arc filter and working forward again. i could probably just add the 'any angle rotate' snippet to all of these.

lightning, i may have to borrow someone else's on that. i would like to add it, but this thing is going to get pretty large... clouds, sun, weather, rainbow, any angle rotate, zoom, and then lightning. lol. i may have to call it the second monster smile:) i've already got way more controls than it probably shld have. and i may even add in a bit of landscape, like some of your last pictures show. wait! i'll bet i could even crowd my waterfall filter in there, too smile;)

those are great pictures, btw. where'd you get them?

steve, am loving your ideas on this. so, here's some payoff smile;) i've also figured out some new ways of handling the perfect arc and rainbow filters, so those are going to get updated as well! smile:D

Are you doing any with white/grey clouds.....maybe with some blue sky peeking though??? ***subliminal suggestion*** smile;) smile:D LOL....

Starting at "msn.com", type "Rainbow pictures" in Search, and click on the link above the sample pics. It's a new feature from that search engine that I'm finding very useful sometimes when I need quick sample pics of something.....

steve, yes, the originals were all black and white and blue. i'll see if i can pick out some good ones for ya. i may revise the clouds yet, though.

ok, i've submitted updates to 'perfect arc' and 'rainbow' using the new angle and zoom features. this simplified the rainbow procedure in some ways, allowing me to remove 15 components, though it added in the any angle and zoom components smile;) still, i think it was a fair trade-off.

ah, i rarely use any search than google. i normally just use their 'images' search. i'll have to look at the msn.com one. are those then picked due to 'free to use'?

i notice in your images there that i might want to do some additional blending and have the rainbow trail off into the clouds and end that way instead of just going out of picture. might make it more real.

I would suggest keeping the major elements, like clouds and rainbows, in separate filters to keep controls simplified. I think the "pros" would probably prefer it that way as well.....like with the rainbows on an alpha background that can easily be added.....which would also allow much better use out of randomization. Maybe you could do them in separate filters and also offer combination filters.....

I would assume so......but I wouldn't use them in a commercial capacity without digging a little deeper into the specific ones you want.....

hmmm, you know me, i like MONSTER filters with 70hundred controls smile;) but, i do see your point and i am seeing a growing list of controls in this thing. it's just sooo convenient, for me, to have everything in one package. i suppose i could just keep that one for myself, though, and submit the others as singles. or, do small combos, cloudes and rainbows, clouds and weather, clouds and sheep, etc. i'll thunk on it.

and yes, the randomization is a good point. even i have to fumble around and find the right control in this mess to 'bring in the picture' at times. the clouds just by themselves, the way it is now, can take a bit of sliding to find the image. but i'm torn; i just LOVE having this all in one package and CREATING a single image/preset with everything to hand. it's much more... creative that way, ya know? like, the filter is my artist's palette.

i suppose there's no reason i couldnt offer both, though, with the 'artist's palette' one as the ultimate of the group. that might work.

Exactly.....I don't think having both individual and combined filters will hurt usage at all.....the pros will want them isolated for ease of use.....and many will like the instant gratification of combo filters creating the whole scene for them.....

Personally, I would only have use for your clouds......and would love to have more distinct variations on the types of clouds in a specialized cloud filter as opposed to having other types of things added to it that I won't use.....or have to block out unwanted parts in between randomizations in order to get what I want from it.....

I can actually see you having several different types of cloud filters.....because there are all kinds of cloud types, lighting, and color effects that I think would be way too much to pack into one filter.....

I was also thinking that you could create a "sun" behind and peeking through the clouds......using blue hues for cloudy dawn effects.....and red hues for sunset effects......

I think that the biggest thing is to "keep it real".....photo-realistic so that viewers can't tell that it is artificially created.....which you have certainly done with those clouds..... smile:beer:

Kinda boggles the mind......because there is so much you can do with this..... smile:devil:

yeah, the sun effect needs work. i borrowed that which i'm using now from another filter. and it needs some better blending. what i'm thinking now is to make some true layered cloud effects and i could stick some of the other effects between the cloud effects so that i could get that disappearing rainbow and sun peeking out effect easier.

but, since no new eula yet, no hurry, no worry smile:)

this is from a different filter. i sort of rebuilt things, going back to clouds only; no rainbows, rain, sun or anything else. having put this down for a while, i'm not quite sure why there are so many controls in the thing, but the results are pretty good smile:)

hi carl,

i dont have a 'wind' control at all. interesting idea, though. i do have stretch and scale and contrasting and color control and blur and so on. i suppose the stretch could be used to simulate wind or i could add a motion blur, maybe. mostly, i've just concentrated on the actual cloud look, the blending of various color clouds. and of course, the previous filter with all the extras, rainbow, rain, sun, etc. i suppose there's a ton of things one could do here. this started out as a 'storm clouds' filter. it's now turned into a series, i think smile:)

as for publishing, i'm honestly reluctant. i was hoping more users would show up here in the forums and seek out authors. that hasnt happened. instead, we've kind of given away the farm, so why shld they show up, other than to download everything for free. so, whereas i'm glad that i could contribute, possibly, to someone else's survival, i seem to be missing the return flow of someone contributing to mine.

you, steve and some of the other authors are great fun to talk with and work with and show off with, but an artist creates FOR a public, hopefully, a broad public. artists creating for artists is nice, but it only partially fills the bill, or for that matter, doesnt pay the bills. so, for now, i'm publishing very little. you get what you reward, and since i'm not being rewarded, 'you' get nothing smile;)

there's little i enjoy more than doing custom work for someone. i've done custom songs, poetry, woodworking, graphics, filters, restorations and so on. i find it really quite rewarding to be able to duplicate what someone wants and thus provide it. i've earned all the reward points i need. heck, i've not even cashed any in, not even for the lifetime updates, since i fully expect to be in on the next beta; so, little incentive there.

and this isnt even a nag at FF Inc. to do something, either. it's really not. if they do do something more incentive wise, why great. if not, why ok.

i'm just tired of giving the milk away for free. so, while i'll continue to post teasers and comments and stuff, i'll probably not be publishing too much for a while. and i think other authors may be coming to this conclusion as well.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

I totally agree - one problem is that there are a few new people submit to earn the program such as ThreeDee who perpetuate the flow of good filters and with over 4000 filters thats enough to keep most buyer very happy and toss in a few developed in house by FF and we are semi-redundant really, in a way we are to late to have any bargaining power - I think we need to look outside of FF for our just rewards unless they come up with some new incentive plan which I don't think there is an incentive for them to do. I think the one great value we do have [ the small group of regulars ] is keeping the forum flowing in a positive, constructive, creative and friendly way and this can't be under valued as part of the FF package to buyers who must come to the site to acquirer the filters they want.
