......especially liking where the second to last one is going.....
I see you've been playing with channels and blends.....let me guess on the last one.....HSB with lighten blend on the original......or inverse color burn???

those last four all came from the same filter, unpublished.
this one comes from a failed experiment in HDRI.

hi steve
well, channels yes, but no hsb. it's actually a nested channels, meaning using two different channel extracts and assembles. it gives me rgb control and light and saturation control, all re-mapped down not to get too wild and then some sharpness or blur if you want. fun little filter. now this one, i didnt really like the entire image, but i really liked how the leafs came out on the near trees. so, i saved the preset and saved off an image.
this was also from the hdri experiment.

well, the true hdri's are produced with bracketed shots on a camera and then processed in a certain way with an hdri program or feature in a program. however, there is a way to simulate is, somewhat, with just a single shot. it's rarely quite as good, but can enhance to near hdri quality. that's what i was trying to duplicate. those last two renditions were wild extremes of un-restricted component mapping
and no, no more monsters the current one still needs a ton of work.
and a teaser only because i'm waiting for the new Eula before submitting any more filters, texture or otherwise. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

this one comes from a filter called 'hellifiknow'. the filter used to be quite different and it's only recently that i've revised it a bit. it was pretty worthless before, all reds and mottled and i'd put it aside. i just now re-worked some bits here and there and it's now showing more potential.

thanks, steve! and yes, 9 is definitely one i'll be pursueing. it's got a definite thick paint look that i've been trying to achieve for a while. plus, i sort of like the faded paint look there.
i've been resurrecting quite a few of my old, unfinished filters lately. this last set have all been a result of that. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

well, i've altered it quite a bit, so hard to say what his original would have done here. his worked with a checkerboard. i've added all sorts of other inputs and altered some of the other parts. so, really, i dont think his original was designed to do anything like this. in fact, if i recall correctly, his original didnt have any kaleidoscopes at all. his was meant for other things. i just saw an interesting piece of architecture and began to play with it a bit and got some interesting looks.

i presume you mean the #9, being the first using the flower pic. and yes, various noises, gradients and so on, all play a part in these. i like the intricacy yet clean look of these. i probably shld have posted a larger size so you could see more of the depth, as well.

hi carl welcome home
#9 ay? yeah, i like 9 too.
ok. i'm partial to #6 and 10, myself; 6 because of the optical illusion effect and 10 because of the clarity of the intracacy, though 9 does that too, which is somewhat hard to see here due to image size. and yeah, i thought about putting in a weave to some of these, but decided against it because of the 3d nature of most of these. if you take #8 into photoshop and zoom in, you'll see that it does have more of a 3d look that cant easily be seen here in the forums. hehe, a page right out of your own book, steve
carl, it's a surface type. the waves/ripples werent intended. they are a result of the color shades and can, in most cases, be smoothed out if unwanted. and as i said, in most cases. some of the selector types use noise gradients and you can only truly control one color in those. so, some will be a bit tricky to smooth down. the height control will help.
i made this a surface type because i wanted to be able to use custom environments with this. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
