So yeah... I was wondering where to make Photoygrpahy go from this point on. Once a similar filter arises, it becomes a little harder to submit something with similar features. Just the "feeling" not necessary a bad thing.

Photoygraphy v3 adds a whole array of new features. I changed the coloring method, to something that's not confusing. Added chromatic aberration, washing out effect, extra sun burning on film, exposure issues, oh yeah, and zoom blur which happens with cheap, plastic lenses.

Oh, and it's even more variation button friendly now. No more of those ugly variations just cause you clicked the random button.

Example below. Very fast render! Not sure with your computer, but it's still fast enough.

Yeah absolutely, I'll have to fix one nasty problem that produces bad looking pictures when hitting certain variables, but otherwise, yes. It will be available.

One last one example with just the new features.

I need to fix the speed a bit. I feel I can make this filter run faster than ever.

[THE TALE OF MEMEROID]

Back in version 1.0 I created a filter called Memeroid, which was intended to recreate the look and feel of polaroid film. Unfortunately, this really turned out to to be not so great. I didn't like the end result of the filter nor did I like it's "polaroid frame" totally didn't look like what I was aiming for.

Though it still has a high usage ranking which is odd... meaning that a lot of people still desire a Polaroid look and feel. I decided to go back in time... and remake the whole thing with version 2.0 components.

Here's a critique of the original filter

Making a couple more changes....

Added vignette. Made the stripy texture more horizontal.... Made sure that much of the image fits onto the frame via scaling it down a bit. Very subtle changes. Almost ready but not quite there yet.

39 minutes to render this?! Bit too long for me. No matter how much I optimize, it takes forever to render something of this detail with AO.

I kinda do have some fake AO going on, but it's not as crisp as using the actual AO map.

Might be worth it depending on the render speed increase.

Bokeh generator using FilterForge2 components. There's one in existence, but I thought it could do better.

Either that's a cool photo (which I know it is if it comes from you) or it's a good filter (which is also expected). Or both. Glad to see more from you, Skybase! smile8)

So yeah, I got pretty busy in the last week two or three weeks... haven't had time to reply to any of the things.

Now, here's what I was busy at. Pretty basic 3D modeling, heavy UV/texture work for a class. Spent 4 weeks doing much of the work.

Guess what filters I used smile:) I can say I used a ton of filters from the library and some of my own.

Thanks you guys. FilterForge saved me hours of work.

There's A TON more left to texture. I took the most time on the store.

Every single item in the store, by the way, does have a proper UV map. Most labels there are properly designed.

cool! 3d has come a long way. it used to be all smooth ray tracing or polygons. now we're getting some grit and realism. nice job smile:)

Wouldn't it be cool if FF had a cheap quick sphere to map textures onto that you could drag around and test the lighting on?

YES. Like in crazy bump there's a sphere you can test the texture on.

Pretty basic shader test with Octane Render which I recently purchased. Bloody awesome render engine.

Used Kochubey's Wood filter. smile:)

We all know who made this filter. smile;)

Speaking of GPU based render systems there's also Random Control Arion which costs some gajillion bucks. I don't know what's faster, what's better, but price-wise Octane wins.

what is a 'render engine'? is this the same thing as a 3d modeler or what?

it takes 3D information (generated by a sister program or a third-party one) and renders it just like how FF takes algorithms and noise and turns them into images.
