yes it is surprising no one has done it, the same thoughts have gone through my mind, but websites is not my field. It would seem FF is missing a marketing opportunity and revenue raiser, but they obviously have made the decision to focus on the software, which is a fantastic application which I'm glad that they are committed to and look forward to V10 ![]()
I think best way to reward authors was with some kind of shopfront, as most of us oldies have more points than we need ![]() ![]() |

yeah, steve was pushing for the storefront, also. good idea, but again, it looks like fred's sites are going to be as close as we get to that for now. ah well, c'est la vie.

Ya know how usually using a *frame* component will break/ruin the filter when you adjust the Size, pixels slider ? Sometimes it actually works out kind of. The first example is at 600, the second is at 300. I just thought it was kinda neat that it didn't totally make the design unusable for once ha-ha.

Kinda losing her nose/upper lip in the b&w one a bit, the color one looks pretty good though. Now if only you could do something about those anchor-like earrings.

hehe, i could remove the anchors, but oddly, to me, she looks good in them. of course, she'd look good to me in golashes
![]() well, re the lip and nose, it's a bit of a glow effect. it's not truly a glow producing filter, but i intentionally pushed it that way for that picture, just to show the thing and it can be toned down. i've also just added a limited hue and saturation adjustment sliders. i was looking at the color pic also, and i decided i'd like to be able to change the hue a bit, if desired, but i remapped it to limit it quite severely; we dont want any blue faces ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

this is a filter i've been working on for some time now. it is a paint daubing filter. you could probably also call it an impressionist filter or even an abstract, at least a bit. but, i prefer 'daubing', as it reminds me most of a style of painting where one takes a brush totally perpindicular to the canvas and then simply daubs the brush to canvas, up and down, up and down, over and over to paint with. i've refined this one many times. i'm up to version 'i', i think it is

the darkness in that last one comes from a 2nd mode for working in and from a heavier black point and lower brightness. there is no hue control. i'm really not trying to change the hue at all. it's just a byproduct of some other things.
this 2nd mode of daubing shows more of the original image, in most cases. thus, it's less like the impressionist filters for that. also note that this whole effect isnt just an overlay onto an external image. it's a remapping. that was done on purpose to keep it from looking 'fake' with a cheesy overlay. ok, #3: ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

i've always been fascinated with star gems, particularly star sapphires. i was playing around with some stuff in the editor and chanced upon this and then developed it a bit more. in the filter, the background would be transparent, but in saving it through paint shop pro that program added the black background.

the black background is also obscuring some of the depth of that 'gem'. it looks better in the filter.

The brush one are a little undefined for me which is purely taste, I like retaining more detail. The gem ones look sweat, could also be disco lights, why so small a stone are you holding out on us the exspensive ones

hi carl
![]() thanks for posting. yeah, the image doesnt come through real clear, does it? so, it's more of an impressionist type. because of the remapping, it's a little difficult to get that clarity and the brush strokes. tricky stuff. i can actually scale the strokes and when very large you really lose the detail. i'll have to work on it some more. and yes, the gem is quite small, or was. i've already scaled it up and i made the star brighter and more clear, as well. and of course, i always keep my best gems to myself ![]() how you doin? havent seen you post any pics or filters in a while. I kind of havta agree with Carl about the brushstrokes, either a bit too 'undefined', or just small/short. And the gem one really just looks like a circle with an 8 point *star* shape blended in the center to me, but that might just be because of the size/black background. But speaking of "painting" type filters, that KPT one as seen in the first example here - http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...9&TID=6533 looks pretty cool, although also not super realistic for a painted effect, but might be something worth aiming for with one of your filters.

hi jffe,
ok, fair enough. i can probably alter it so that more of the original shows through. i know exactly what you and carl are talking about. (i still like it, though ![]() i've never played around with KPT much. i think i have it, but not sure. there are other really good filters out there in the marketplace. fx, alienskin, topaz, buzz and some others. i dont have all of them, but working on it ![]() yeah, the gem one was just a rough start post. i've refined it more now. it's larger and the white 'star' is more prominent. i'm shooting for the type of star you see in the larger star sapphires, where the lines are much more prominent and often not truly symmetrical. if i think of it, i'll post up another pic of the refined texture later on. Just a simple flowery wallpaper thing I was working on. It started out with Uber's 'Uberstar' snippet, and I added 'Sphere - fuzzy 1e' to it, so it'd scale properly.
