Some picts with this filter as it is looks great..I have some of the image going to the background..Then some coming out of the screen..Others don't look so good, so I need to figure that out...

and that raises a very interesting question. if you're seeing the pop on one image and i'm not, but i'm seeing it on a different one, then what are others going to see with different calibrations, glasses and so on? we may need a larger sampling audience to really tweak this.

Well the glasses, I am just using the ole paper red and blue ones..I did try the creepy pict on some other monitors..The creepy one looked dark. The donna one I could see but I was staring at it last night so I am bias on that one..It might be that my brightness and contrast are a bit different..Since the creepy one was dark..I will fix that and see how it goes with that..I am also in a room where the light is not so bright so that may play a part..

Well this is still in the real early stages of creating..But yep, can't really control that aspect at the moment...But hope to figure that part out..As it is the pictures that turn out the best so far are landscaping images for some reason..So I could make a "Landscaping" version smile:)

CF,

i dont see much on that last statue. maybe a little.

i'm quite curious how you're doing all these, especially that one statue that i really said popped. i'd love to be able to do some of these, but i'd need to know your steps in photoshop as well as the filter. care to elaborate?

Well did a little modifing to test how far out I can go with an image..Turned the
statue into a black and white so hopefully it can be seen a little better...It seems to be more than 5 inches away from the screen..This is only a test...

thanks, CF.

ok, that one sticks out about an inch on my monitor, similar to the other one that worked for me, but just a touch less. definitely something different about our viewing apparatus if you got 5 inches. are you using an lcd monitor, plasma or crt? i'm using a crt with the old curved screen. i wonder if the refresh rate has anything to do with this too.

I am also using the same type of monitor...The refresh rate could have something to do with it...But I am leaning more towards perhaps room lighting and brightness, contrast of the different monitors....Who needs to do what I don't know??? Anyway I was saving this for a snippet but I will post it now and submit it later also smile:)
This is what I was using for these test...It just makes the image pop out of the screen..

this last one has no parallax for me like some of the others do, meaning it doesnt pop out. but, it's got a 'cleaner' look than most. 'cleaner' being there's no errant, offset red or blue showing when i wear the glasses.

Oh nice! Anaglyph filter, I could use one of those. Currently, I've been doing them manually (as shown @ http://torley.com/amsterdam-in-3d/ ), not the more enjoyable set of steps to take.

CF, torley's amsterdam anaglyph is very similar in depth to your first statue one that i liked. it has the same mouse response and so on. it doesnt pop out like your statue one, but it does have the depth within.

very nice, torley.

Yep its a bit different as far as the depth and the way it works...Using a invert
on the frame component makes it move outward...Did figure out how to do a simple
mapping on it thou..

CF,

i went back through all of the pics posted here, wearing my glasses, of course, and i think i missed a few things. most notably, is the last fountain pic. that has much more depth within the image itself than i had previously seen. i guess i was looking for something else and not seeing what was actually there. so, that one and the statue are now my two favorites.

if you could remember which filter did which, i'd appreciate knowing.

If you run the pict through it twice you get more depth and other interesting results...

The statue was this one

I am still working on the "CF Anaglyph Advanced Edition"
I am going to put in the hallway method also.. smile:D

Oh yea when looking at the Hovering Anaglyph I found it helps if you backaway from the monitor when trying to veiw the image coming out of the screen...

result.. smile:)

Thanx muchly for the kind words; these are some great FX! CFandM, great work thus far. I gotta find my 3D glasses, they're old cardboard ones by a company called "Rough Cut" I reckon. Suitably, I remember them being very hard on my ears, but the glory of the third dimension is worth it!

Rough Cut, if is not, should be the name of the company. I also use these glasses. They work good but I got tired of the paper cuts behind the ears.. smile:( So I wrapped them in a nice wallpaper..I might put some foam material on the part that goes on the ear also..
Its easier on the ears when wearing them for a long period.

oh WOW! those REALLY do the trick! i'm getting all sorts of height and depth, both with the picture to the display backdrop and within the picture itself. this is DEFINITELY your best yet!

and those other presets work as well or better. VERY COOL! you have to publish this one!

ok, this one really pops out on my monitor, even more than the statue one i like. the big difference is this has internal depth as well.

it looks like the last two presets are suffering a bit, possibly due to being too busy, maybe. larger picture elements seem to give better results. or maybe it's that the last two dont have as much black in them, thus not as much depth to begin with in their native states.

This really works good now..At least in b/w...I was wondering how these would look on
paper..So I printed a couple of variations...How cool!! They come off the paper the same as on the screen only turning the paper at an angle you can see the distance from the paper to the image...

I was going to submit this Kraellin but what should I call it? smile:?: smile:)

ah, printing. hadnt gotten around to that yet. i'll have to try it out. i've got some interesting printing processes that shld rock.

hmmm, i'd start it with 'kaleidoscopic' to keep it close to the other one... easier to find that way. how bout 'kaleidoscopic 3D profile'? that keeps it a kaleid, and modifies the 'profile' in a different way with the '3d'. and it really is a 3d profile smile:)

yeah, like i said, i think this is your best yet.

i'm looking at other profile types to apply this too.

i'm also wondering if we could add an image component in there and see if it doesnt work on regular imports. i'll try it later.

i had a play with this. i unhooked my filter stuff from yours and just used yours, but i added an image component and a set alpha and changed a couple things. it no longer pops out of the screen, but there is color depth within the image. so, it's not right, but maybe you can work some more magic with it.
