One more TileStar. This one shows the curves that create the star and ellipse, mostly due to the contrast. Beautiful in a mathematical way. I'm happy with this one: I was able to use FF components alone without math formulas that were used in creating Squircles. Curves are very powerful when used in this way (specifically Circular Arc, experimenting with Bias).

Working on a snippet, Squircles Button Style. This design element is used a lot (Apple etc etc), taking buttons that are square or too "circular" (for instance corners on rectangles which are semi-circles) and making them look more natural. There are several types of squircles, I am emulating them by using a blend of Circular Arc and Bias. An example, with the bevel added by GIMP:

Hi Rachel, how did you get the drips to repeat and with the variations? I would like to see this published.

Working on a hex grid. Originally wasted my time on a looping version, so slow... then saw that uberzev had done it with Curves and Offset (Filled Hexagonal Tiles). Not wanting to copy it, I did my own version with Curves and Lookup. A little tricky on non-square images. Works well now, fast, and I have extended it. Here's an example:

Went further with the idea. After doing this looked at filters and saw Bee POV by Andrey Mironov. Hope you don't mind my take on this. They are different. Calling it Bee Honeycomb:

This looks very nice, Rachel.
I'm trying to do similar geometric stuff in Mathematica (Wolfram). I would not have the slightest clue as to get it done in FF ![]() Could you give me some hints or maybe share a filter so I can see how on earth you manage this kind of things. Here is my current version of Metatron's Cube (FF 13). Just for demo purposes. The big thing to realize is you have to build your own shapes. In my code circle shapes are created by changing the radius slightly and subtracting between the two to get a hoop. Lines are created in the same way by controlling Start X and End X for the line thickness. Since this is a hexagonal shape, angles of 60, 30, 15 and 120 are common, so rotation of the original shape 2 times followed by a flip will get you the hex shape. You can also look at Day of the Dead to see how other shapes are made.
UPDATE: here's a subset of MC, using a tile seed. ![]() Math meets art meets psychedelia. |

I had a look at your Filter, Rachel.
Quite cleverly done. I have never tried to make something with geometric figures, so I learned a lot. Also the way how you assign the final color to the lines by means of Threshold is a smart way. Always learning, thanks Rachel ![]() The Stone Age did not end because they ran out of stones. Niels Bohr |
