this one is from a mod of northernshadow's "image marbleizer". the original photo is one of patricia kaye's, used with her permission (from over on retouchpro.com). If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Alot hasn't been done in this area at all.....
I would suggest modifying it to map the marbleization more onto the image.....then some mad experiments to develop different types of brush strokes.....
Hey, not a bad idea for the competition theme.....impressionist paint effects, eh??? Steve

steve, impressionist would be a great theme for a contest. there are several filters that could sort of pass for impressionist and/or abstract, currently.
carl, ah, that one. that's the 'high pass variations with color' filter. there are two of those in the library from me, one without and one with color. i've been modifying the one with color some here lately, but you might find that effect in the current library filter. Gosh.. Craig that last one would be cool for making auras/flames etc around text or alpha based images, been trying to figure out how to do that... part from I end up getting side tracked with other filters.. *bad girl* must get more focused... but I open FF with an idea then see what I was working on last and totally forget the idea I had and end up playing with the last filter.. or a part made filter section I saved before finishing another filter.. god thats if that make sense?
Yes, I know burble fest , didn't sleep to well last night.. no idea why.. no scrap that kept hearing a noise outside but couldn't see anything to cause the said noise...
I know what I'll hit post and stop nattering on about nothing in particular.

interesting that you mention this. there are a number of filters that could be made for manipulating and altering fonts/text. i think only one or two of us have done anything in this regard.

ah, the bane of the artist we all do this. the trick is to finish something artists are 'starters'. we start things. i've been this way all my life. i was always the one that was trying to get a baseball game going or a game of some kind or going a different way from everyone else. we also tend to see things first, whether good or bad. but, if you're like me, you get bored easily, always wanting that new effect, new experience, as the effect of such or as cause. we're always out there first.
so, a couple of things that i do are, i go through my 'my filters' filter by filter and just tweak one or two things on filters i havent published yet, then quit that one and go on to the next. i dont try to force a finish, well, unless i'm under some sort of deadline (though, i admit, this may not be the best way to do this). i also often see a filter within a filter. when i do, i'll isolate that new idea within my current filter and 'save as' with the new filter name and then go back to the original one. this helps me remember my inspirations without having to work on it now and i can get back to what i started. and, it's also important to spend some time on understanding your tools. so, if you're working on something and you dont understand some point of it, look it up. this will help you stay interested in the one you're working on. we tend to lose interest when we go past something we dont understand.
