Is that a filter or did you paint that by hand?

Hehe cool. I tried making some kind of sketchy paint filter a while ago, but couldn´t achieve the look I was after. Might try again someday when I learned more smile:-)

smile:) With love! Thanks!

So I rendered a 5184x3456 image as a test. I further can say ... this filter will need a TON of testing! It's slow and the results don't correspond with the preview. So now I have a ton of problems to solve.

It's a relatively complex set of operations being used, especially the highpass components are murdering time. It's built with version 4! smile:)

The bomber is POWER!!!!

Well, I disagree in this smile;) as the bomber in itself is NOT the one that makes this alone, the most important thing is the DATA that you feed to the bomber and how you feed it and the components that you attach to it and then after what you make with the result.

You are an expert and have high and admirable knowledge on HOW to use the bomber in the best possible way and how to get it make whatever you want.

So I made a bunch of pixely textures based on some of the filterforge stuff. These are 90% hand-crafted, hand shaded, and 10% done with a bit of FilterForge magic. Each texture is 32x32.

Will be making games out of it.

Very sweet. So you painted them and then fed them to your pixelart filter?

Nop. Depending on the texture the method I use is different, but the main method I've been doing goes like this:

1. Render a 32x32 texture normally from FilterForge.
2. Trace edges by hand and color it all by hand.
3. If bump maps are extractable, I use those to generate additional feeling of bumpiness but otherwise I hand paint the highlights and shadows myself. They're generally crisper that way and look nicer.
4. Apply photoshop filter to unify colors.

The pixel filter fails in many instances because it's meant to work with procedural textures. But when it comes down to details, it's extremely difficult to work with it and often the results don't look nice as a hand-made one.

The catch is the edges need to be perfectly 1 pixel thick, and the pixel art filter technique doesn't do that well enough, so it ends up looking messy when zoomed out. If outlines are 1 pixel, then it has to keep that width.

Some current version tests.... Has more controls, visually not that different. I wanna figure a nice way to make them more solid... but it seems like I'd have to restructure the whole thing.

Your new nebulaes also can be used nicely as you have done in the first page and use for text OR possible customized shapes

CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR ARTISTIC WORKS, IDEAS AND SKILLS

I already know that you have many private filter and have shown many really beautiful artworks and I do not want that you reveal the secret of what you have done to make them, as it is your own work and of course you decide what to share, and you have been very kind many times to share already many really amazing, useful and awesome filters and also some very good tutorials.

I am telling all this because I just want to tell you that I would love to know if it would be possible to learn HOW do you use the Bomber in such a wonderful and amazing way you do it, and that you get such great and beautiful results, as said I do not want that you reveal your secrets, BUT at least know a little and have some tips on how to use it in the best possible way to be able to have such a great results like the one you have shown above.

I mean HOW to feed things into the Bomber to get what you are able to get in such a great, artistic and innovative way?

---------------------------------------------

If you do not want to make it public, and if you want it, you can send your suggestions or tutorial by private email.

Of course that I will understand and agree if you want to keep it and do not tell about it, and is perfectly understandable and would not feel bad at all, I am just asking you if it would be possible, if not, nothing bad happens, because this would be probably like asking a magician to tell you how he does his magical tricks

AND I have to say also that is NOT only How to use the bomber in the best way, as even when you have made available the filter to make some the beautiful artworks you have done, you have made great work using the right images as the source.

Here are some example of your awesome use of the BOMBER POWER

smile:D I was nearly 80% sure that this artwork has not been done with the bomber as was different to others, but I could not know it, so I have put it anyway, and now I can confirm what I have thought and I was right that is not bomber based smile:D

Please, keep showing and posting such beautiful artworks that you are able to make

Thanks

Oh and on that note, I've kinda subsided with submitting stuff to the library because most of my stuff's now being developed for business reasons. I have the liberty to talk about my own work as long as it's deemed independent (a component of its own)from the work being done in the studio. smile:)

this new version does render a bit faster. It's completely rebuilt from scratch because ... I donno I was getting tired of seeing the old version.

By the way, if you're really wanting this right now you can easily hook up any pattern in the older version I have right now and just tweak it a bit lol. But just sayin, new version's faster and better XD

Thanks smile:) Will be working a bit more... then again I just realized... I made this filter in FilterForge 4. smile:( Now I can't submit it until FilterForge 4 is done. lol.

Here it is with a bit of gradient based lighting. Very quick, but adds depth really.
