 Well, you know how much I like the simplest most efficient way to get things without all the unnecessary crappola to slow things down....and this one only has seven V1 components in it. I don't need no steenk'n V2 components, bombers, or scripts.... 
Currently developing many different "realistic" oil, acrylic, and watercolor painting effects....with canvas, brush/pallet paint clumps, and old oil painting crack relief....one base style sample below with faint strokes....   Steve

This one shows the base strokes a little better without relief on simple result....
I really want the effect to make it look like it was hand-painted while capturing a close resemblance to the original....and at the same time, look like it was not created from a photo....which is the most important thing.... How does it look so far to you guys???  Steve

Thanx guys
Working on different brushes/strokes....think I've got general strokes to conform/follow forms and tone changes okay.....and incorporated some neat little component tricks to simplify construction so filters render very fast....and no V2 components or scripting involved....it's a beautiful thing....

I don't know if that's good or not.....but for some reason, I really like the embossing with texture....appearance of 3D relief effects in 2D images....
I hate when that happens.... 
Glad you guys likie.... Gotta get back to 3D glass pretty soon.... I jump around too much and things get lost and forgotten for years in my never-ending pile of filters....  Steve

Ah, glad you guys like them....
Now, I would like to come up with an effect that creates characatures and scene animations like that used in the movie "A Scanner Darkly".... I will be merging/cross-breeding these posterization effects with all the other painting effects that I've posted here....for all kinds of unique new painting effects....

Yeah, stepping the posterization is pretty straightforward..... The hard part seems to be the simplification/straightening of posterized areas in combination with the simplified exaggeration of both heavy and detailed edges. The style used for "A Scanner Darkly" is called "Rotoscope Animation". There are some good clips of it on YouTube....type in search terms "Rotoscope Animation" or "the making of a scanner darkly".....

It always happens like that, Craig....I'll be trying to re-create one thing, and end up getting sidetracked on something neat that I discover along the way....or I just end up switching in mid-stream to something altogether different....

That was actually created from a pic of myself....with a little distortion to get those Spok-like eyebrows....
Yes, it kinda does.....but without the curving effect. That filter is actually a 10th generation mod that started from Sphynx's Hex Blur filter.... Watch....I'll get carl back in here with something from one of my Grunge Painter filters....he loves grunge.....or pictures of dirty women.... ....  Steve
