I think the samples go to show that "glass" effects do much better without alot of extra detail to refact and detract by filling all areas with an unecessary mess..... ..... Steve

carl, i seriously thought about it, but it's already a surface type filter, so it's already got lighting. not that big a deal to tweak a few of them in psp with a little brightness/contrast adjustemnt layer
and steve, yes, i think you may be right about the glass effect... keep it simple for best results. also, i didnt use any high pass on this one, which keeps the filter faster. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

it took me months to make this filter. i'd put it down and work on it 'later', never quite finding the exact look i wanted. i cant remember the artist this is modeled after, but i'm guessing sherry might know, or perhaps, someone else. at any rate, it's still not quite right yet, but close. thanks, carl. yeah, that's what i thought, too. the problem is, i'm having trouble isolating why and i also dont like that patterned telltale texture so much. so, this is still a WIP. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

yeah, not sure about that steve. i may actually leave it to simulate older, dirty canvases/paintings. there's a look to this that resembles that and i dont want to lose it. we'll see.
but, i've found a major flaw with the filter and am going to have to re-work it almost completely. it seems to work fairly well on large images, but terribly on smaller ones. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Yeah, pixel interferance on the small ones.....happens to alot of them.....but the filter still may be perfectly good.....

well, frankly, i'm being an almost complete dillitante on filter making these days. so, i've put that one aside and am working on another one. lol. in other words, i'm 'dabbling' with lots of ideas and getting nothing actually finished. it's that old incentive thing again. why submit? no incentive. no reward. no payola! all my brilliance gone to waste i dont even get the occasional email asking for anything. ah, woe is me i'll probably have to shoot myself just to get my genius recognized (dead artists always make more than living ones ).
so, what do you do to fix it, steve? ... the pixel interference, i mean. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Nothing you can do except re-save pic at higher pixel resolution and use high antialiasing.....some effects are just conducive to pixelation interferance.....

Fire bad!!! LOL....
When pixel resolution is so low that the pixel grid affects manipulation to the image.....

i've submitted several updates tonight. you'll no doubt see them monday. but, this one i'm still working on. it's the 'high pass variations with color' filter. i've added new effects and cleaned up a few things. still working on it, though. so, maybe later for submission.
and, of course, that's steve's yellow flower pic. (great pic ). If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
