Love the depth and cut outs. I would like to see that with out the thin lines.

Thanks Frank. When I release it there will be options to turn the edges on/off as well as the shadows on/off. Basically this is an offshoot of The Psychedelic Ten but only uses one image, with more options for which channels to use for the "cutouts".

That works really well at reducing the colors and still results in good detail.

Is it possible to set the number/approx number of colors and perhaps enter specific color values?

Thanks smile:) Yes and probably not... The filter will probably have ten controls, each control will set the number of colors between 1 and 10 for a specific range. But I'm not going to "match" an input color, the filter is curves ("stairs") based if that makes any sense. Here are a few other examples from traditional cutout to more extreme results.

I've used a method to reduce the palette before, but don't recall exactly what it was. Maybe it was the curves filter with stairs ... there are probably a few ways to do this.

Can't help adding cutouts to everything, now here is a very experimental Cutout Painter, a derivative of Detail Painter.

A couple of more examples of Cutout Painter. Some technical challenges due to changes between FF6 and FF7, moved the filter back to FF6.

Is there a way to have a drop shadow adjustment option between echos?
I say option becuase it would probably be slower, but still nice to have for added appearance of depth.

I currently have an option to increase or decrease the shadow. Each example above has drop shadows on all echoes. Did you mean to change the amount of shadow differently for each echo? I'm also considering adding an option which will increase/decrease the lightness and/or saturation after each echo. Here's an example without the shadow.

Hi, I'm just so impressed by your creations!
Thanks heaps for the inspiration and all those fabulous filters, I'm trying out echo mask with lots of stuff.
Would love to show you some of my experiments, but alas, I am not even able to post a pic here, as uploaded files disappear for no reason, it is downright smile:evil:

However, words somehow do get typed and processed, which is most unusual, as I'd much rather have it the other way around. smile:cry:

Thank you Erica! smile:D I've been putting together filters for several years here at Filter Forge. I create many of these filters for myself and specific projects and I always appreciate feedback.

The inability to post pictures may have to do with the size of your images. Assuming you are using "Attach a file-Browse..." to add images. The limit for attached images is 1 megabyte and must be .jpg, .jpeg, or .png (as far as I know). To make this limit, I size most of my images down to between 1000 and 1400 pixels width, then pick the .jpg compression value that fits just under the 1 megabyte limit. NOTE: The Image button is used to post external images already at another website.

Also trying a different browser might help.

If you do manage to figure it out and want to post, use the Post New Topic button in the User Gallery and you can start your own thread.

Hi Rachel, Thank you for the advise.
I know my images are the right size & compression value, it has something to do with my account, I cannot upload an avatar either.
But will sort it all out at some stage. Too much fun with echo mask at the mo to dig into technicalities smile8)
I will start a new topic button once it's sorted and post some of my stuff.

The management of FF is not posting anymore of my work in the user gallery as I posted 18 images in the last 2 months... it's getting suspicious... smile:?: smile;) smile:!:
