I have two effects that are similiar, yet have a few fundemental differences. How do decide when to combine or leave seperate two similiar filters?

What are they??? I think putting too much into one filter makes it hard for the user to find what they are looking for.....especially without lockable controls in randomization.....

I created a sweet looking paper effect, and I now can either burn the paper or draw on the paper, so should I seperate those two effects into 2 different filters.

The reasoning I tend to want to separate them is because the burn effect can be used to make really nice looking burnt paper, frames, ect... whereas the drawing style is unique and hasn't been made yet. So I want to insure that these two awesome features are seen, as oppose to just showing them off in the presets.

I actually want to mix the some of the burning (not all) and the painting filter in one, and then do another filter soley for burning the blank paper, just incase people want burning paper, but I don't know if that is just repetitious.

So my dilemia is 2 nice specialized filters or 1 beefy filter.

Personally, as a user, I would prefer two nice specialized for ease of use....but one beefy might be better towards obtaining high usage..... smile:)

Ahhhh, I want high usages; I really do... But I don't want these filters to be cheapened!!!! Dilema!!!! Unnecassry exclamation marks!!!! smile:)

I think I answered my own question. If I want high usage I put the two together (assuming the filter would get high usage...), if I want to make filters that are easier to use I do separate; so because I try and put FF interests before my own I will split the filters.

So thank you StevieJ for helping me.

Okay, I am at work and can't post any examples but I am just going to come out and tell in detail the two different filters and get some feedback.

I was watching Harry Potter 4 with my wife (I like #3 the best) and during the credit there is paper that is burning. Well my wife turned to me and said, can you make a filter that looks like that paper? Of course I can, I smiled... and I did. Well the paper looks fantastic.

So I burned the paper everywhich way, just like in the movie and it is looking really nice. Well that gave me the idea for a wanted poster, so I made a wanted poster that looks pretty authentic.

So my new problem is do I leave the wanted poster on plain sweet looking parchment, with a few sliders for a simple yet neat look, or do I add sliders so you can burn the wanted poster as well.

As of right now the filter is quick, but I have been toying with the idea of making it textured, so the poster can be wrinkled or ripped, or have a nail in it. So my question is now this, should I leave the simple clean, useful, and quick filter or textured and slower?

Ya know, why don't you do all of them.....individual effects and combined effect filters.....then you would have everything covered, eh??? smile;) smile:)

A filter that has the unique effect of burning the edges sounds like a stand alone filter to me, giving the user more control with the image used smile:)

Carl, will do; I will put a switch that lets you toggle between the parchment or picture!

How about texture though? Should I leave the wanted poster fast and 2d or slow and wrinkled?

I suppose it to much to ask to have a switch for that as well LOL but I can see wrinkles adding to the wanted poster effect smile:)
