yes, i can see the tribal look there too. might be interesting to do some animal skin textures.
gtkradiant was the in-house editor for ID software for a long time. they finally released the source code and others have been evolving it. so, it's been around for years. i play a little Wolfenstein ET, so, i'm interesting in radiant for several reasons. one, for making game levels; two for breaking into 3d graphics more; and three for artistic reasons. working in 3d has some real advantages and disadvantages for photo art and art in general. lighting is probably the biggest advantage. being able to move your light source around without having to re-draw your object/image is a huge adavantage. so, there's some good reasons for wanting to break into 3d. gtkradiant just happens to be free and i've used it before years ago.
as for selling my textures to game makers, i kind of doubt it. selling textures is kind of like selling air, everyone's already got some

but, who knows... i grew up when the idea of selling bottled water was like a running joke. who knew back then it would become a billion dollar industry
and thanks for the 'original' comment/compliment

yes, i dont do pattern filters any more unless it has a fairly unique look. this one is based on a number of profile gradients slung together with some other stuff to alter it into a pattern. profile gradients work very well for this. it was one of those filters where i just started out throwing things together to get a 'look'. i had no specific intentions in mind other than that. once i had a 'look', it turned out to be carpets. so, i refined it some more and then added some texture to give it more 'pile' to the carpet. there are some patterns that will look a bit cliche' but with the added texture, why, i think that's acceptable
and with seamless turned on, i think i'm now understanding vlad's original intention for FF more. it was interesting to watch the re-rendering of some of the patterns when i ran the original first with seamless off and then turned seamless on and watched it render again. quite intersting. my hat's once again off to vlad and the FF team

If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
