I agree...I used to do quilting. That filter would be a great place to get ideas for quilt projects!

Awesome! I really like that last example! Reminds me of a magic circle! Not sure if it's currently possible to do, but this sure does inspire me to try making a magic circle generator filter!

Oh, I'm glad you asked ^_^ Magic circles originally had roots in folk lore and witch craft, but these days, they are pretty innocent fare and you see them all the time in RPGs. Basically, it's just a circle carving, engraving or rune that is created to execute a magic spell (Magic Circles traditionally are circles, but can also be triangles, hexagons, etc). It's a very popular effect for making magic err... magical.

Thanks to the wonders of TV magic, here's a ready baked magic circle compliments of the Xyniverse, although there are a lot of variations on them. The most well known magic circle though is probably the classic Pentagram and most other magic circles are derived from it, despite it's controversial nature depending on who you ask.

I'd imagine the circular text part of the magic circle is currently impossible in Filter Forge, although the geometry itself should be well within it's capability with some experimentation.

zephos,

thanks. for some reason i had in mind something that was done on a math principle. i know there was a 'magic circle' or 'magic square' or magic something that i remember seeing/hearing years ago that had to do with some math equation/forumla. so, that's what was tickling my mind. so, thanks, but this wasnt it smile:)

nice pic, though!

Apollony Fractal

Yep the geometry can be done, it would take some experimenting to figure out a way to do it...The text on the other hand would be a bit more interesting......
See here for more

You might have to rotate each individual letter with its own rotate filter,
not to mention there will be a lot of components for just the text...But
it would be a challanging one to create..

Wow, I never knew that magic circles had a root in mathematic equations too! Well, math has a hand in pretty much everything, so I shouldn't be that surprised. ^_-

One thing I love about the Filter Forge community is that some filter makers create filters based on mathematics and logic, and others create it based on instinct and creativity, or a mix of the two, so just like the definition of a magic circle, two filters with similar goals can be produced in completely different manners for completely different results.
