Very very very very very very cool. I always wanted you to submit this one, and you did!
I and a friend are making a sci-fi video game and I will get you some pics when I use this filter. Might be a year down the road though ![]() |

Cool, would love to see it. I actually made it for a game project, btw. (Released in ~6 mos, probably) Also, I was farting around on some flash game site, and I saw where someone had used one of the pics I'd posted on my junkyard as one of the background planets! (this one: http://www.filterforge.com/upload/for...Test7.png) So, I think this one will be in heavy rotation for the sci-fi fans! |

Planetary shadows should be pretty easy on this one, I think. Actually, if I did it as a straight threshold, it would probably help make it faster. The shadow would always be along the plane of the ecpliptic (ie rotating around equator of the planet) and not independently rotating, though. |

Check out my filter planetiarium, I have a pretty fast method that you could tweak to get it independent of the rotation of the planet.

Ah... I found it! Vector Boom. On closer examination, they're not the same image, so can't be sure. It has all the distortion at the edges, though. Cool: I love it when my stuff shows up out there in the world. ![]() |

I just wanted to say thanks again for such a great filter. Its very flexible and with a little experimentation you can create really cool Gas Giants. I used it to help create my latest set on Renderosity and I am really happy with the results (see link below). I admit I did tweak the filter a tiny bit and then there was definitely some postwork involved, but its not necessary to get great results.
