I read a few threads here and there, and it seems that there has been some problems getting true perspective distortions (i.e. without bending of straight lines) - I think I solved that issue here (or at least we're one step closer..)

Still working on it, but here's how it looks using your preferred layout smile;)
The X and Y controllers adjust the rotation around X and Y axis in X,Y,Z "space".. don't mind the numerical values.. they're not correct (you'll find the basics for this stuff in the Tile Flow filter)

If one could freely tilt an image along the X and Y axes as well as control the 'flatness' of the perspective, then this would make for a very nice filter indeed.

got to digging in the guts of this one ---very nice I did several comparitive remaps --surface only not perspective or height to see what ones worked the best here are the results

they where all based off of this noise profile --with just result no hdr lighting or anything else the only change made was to blend the noise with multipy at 66.6%
on all equally

Ive got my favorite but Im curious as to wich ones you think map the most accurate --this way I can default to useing it

Now to get back to the proper subject this filter I removed your tiles and just plugged the plain ol lifesaver in to see the effect and as illustrated by this image the offset is still off on the edges --and this is the classic problem the center is oriented properly but the edges are inverted on 1 or 2 axis

there is a solution utilizing your method --by simply remastering the section where you have the image tiled into 9 pieces you can correct the offset errors Ive done this on a couple filters but it does slow down render time

by just adding 3 components here you can see orientation is fixed

yet still we have the problem of a true free rotation

I had a 99% close working solution in wich I shamefully stole a ton of Ubers stuff to do it and looking through my boxes cant seem to find it now or I would post it ---the one downfall of using nonsense names while a filter is in development

What do you mean? Enable the "Seamless Tiling" control .. But perhaps I misunderstand what you are referring to?

look at the two pictures of the life preserver --if you use a picture instead of noies you will see that on the top one in the top left corner the life preserver is upside down and flipped from left to right --directly below that one in the picture the life preserver is flipped from left to right only

yet on the bottom of the two pictures if you look the preservers are tiled correctly
