Yes, thats the filter I like most!
You cant generate lots of different kinds of wood, all looking great and very realistic. I tried to build some wood-specific improvements, but couldnt yet upload the filters ![]() But what I recognized with this filter: You get very nice wood-patterns when you set the seamless tiling off and dont set the streting-parameter too high. When you switch it on (seamless tiling), the pattern changes quite a lot, and gets more unique - loosing its special nice pattern look. Any solutions for that ? regards, rilos |

Well, I'm afraid we cannot do anything about that -- to provide the continuity in both directions, the pattern has to change somehow. I'd suggest to turn Seamless Tiling on before experimenting with filters, so that you can see the final tiled result. |

yes, of cause the pattern has to change a bit to get seamless. But the whole general pattern changes a lot. I wonder what kind of technique is used here to generate seamless tiling. I know several other tools to generate seamless tiles out of any kind of photo and it works quite well without changing the overall look. regards, rilos |

Filter Forge doesn't "generate" seamless tiles based on non-seamless images, so there is no edge-blending step like you can see in other tools. Every component in Filter Forge produces seamless output when Seamless Tiling is turned on. In this particular case, the change is probably caused by Perlin Noise and other Perlin-based components (Noise Distortion, Noise Gradient etc) -- when the Scale parameter is set to a relatively high value, turning Seamless Tiling on can cause quite noticeable differences in the noise appearance. |

how very odd that this one doesnt have more comments on it. this one goes waaaay back and is still one of the best wood filters out there. in fact, i think this one goes back to the beta days and it is an outstanding filter!

![]() I've started a project of remaking my bedroom in 3D. I live in a 100 year old craftsman house and this filter was exactly what I needed ![]() I used it to create the diffuse and bump/specular maps for this super dark wood everywhere. Roses are #FF0000
