carl,
is there an option to add more grain/texture to the gold parts? If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Now that I have finished my first texture I wanted to take another and closer look at this one. Before I opened it I just checked out the presets and tried to guess how you did it. Man, I was way off! Your approach to things is so direct. I tried to take what I learned from the clear stylistic approach you took on the rework of the suds and bubbles filter and apply it to my new stone texture. I think it shows in the controls – look how similar our controls are. But internally, once again, my approach is convoluted and clunky - translated – slow and unwieldy - undoubtedly condemning my texture to languish in the low usage pile. I seem to be working at the wrong scale – this is probably a result of having so little experience in graphics.
Good job! @ronviers

It's such an easy thing to do with so many filter, I also find I mean to comment on a filter get distracted and forget or think I did. I can't recall whether I commented on your illustrations - if I did forget - they are terrific - is illustration your income and I noticed you've added one as your avatar looks excellent Quote |

It was rejected due to render time – and rightfully so. It was just too darn slow. It had a 23 minute render time on my machine 3.6GHz/4GB/2CHT. I designed it in stages and only plugged it in at the end so the render time surprised even me. I though it might have a niche though. I considered reworking it but if I do the things necessary to speed it up like details/roughness, noise curve profiles, bump map simplification etc. then it no longer is my vision of how it should be. So I have decided to cannibalize it. I think I can get three or four good filters from taking it apart.
By wrong scale I mean I am adding too many details. I have to learn to make my vision match the medium – if that makes sense.
The nice thing about it, and the thing I wanted you to see, was how I managed to simplify the controls - that is what I was so proud of.
It was a filter fiasco - I was down about it for a few hours but now I'm back to work determined to make the experience pay off. @ronviers

One of my earlier ones took 15 min and was rejected too so I understand - combining certain components can really stuff it up Quote |

The vision of end result is to me the important thing [ heard of Art Directors LOL ]so what I'm saying is if I can help with your development on a fodder bases, so you also understand simplication to reach your vision and future autonomy of construction while you retaining artist control I would be more than happy to help Quote |

Thanks! I am still very much in student mode - just trying this and that trying to find something that works.
Now that song will be stuck in my head for the next three days.
But it also gives direction to my next filter...

I've been doing art all of my life, but I am never satisfied with anything I make so I always gave my work away. My Mother, Uncle, and Grandfather all made money from their art. I was mainly a factory worker and maid before my health went to total kaka.
Thanks for the compliments.
