WOW!! Thanks very much for taking the time to make this new version with Alpha and for the very fast answer.

Not sure how well it works.

Well, it is not the same result as the original filter, as in this filter the background is very important for the whole effect, but anyway the effect is good and I like the result, but the strokes are somewhat different with less detail and like it how is different from the original and that there are strokes on this that can´t be seen in the original filter because they are hidden and mixed with the background

HERE BELOW IS THE RESULT I GOT

With the original filter the alpha is converted to black and used as a background color and gets also a beautiful result, but is the same as it had already a black background, as is not the same.

Using this new Alpha version you can get beautiful, good and detailed strokes that may be missed if there was a background although also there is less details in some others parts because there is no background.

I wish it was all good but I have found maybe another FF MATH mistery and perhaps like the one from Morgantao in this thread

FF MISTERY: THIS ALPHA VERSION IS MUCH SLOWER

One bad thing I have found and that I do not why this is happening, is that your new version that seems that only has 3 new alpha group of components is much more slower than the original version, it takes about 3 to 4 times more to make the result

rendering preset 1 lifesaver 600 x 600 with the original filter takes 26 seconds
rendering preset 1 lifesaver 600 x 600 with the alpha version filter takes 80 seconds
rendering preset 1 lifesaver 600 x 600 with the alpha version filter with transparency active takes 99 seconds

And the time difference is much higher when using the high resolution instead of 600 x 600 (I mean is not just seconds, is many minutes more)

How can it be possible that adding only this groups of alpha components can makes this filter so much slower?

Well do not worry, about it, it was just a suggestion and something I thought, is NOT something I really need to have and is important, thanks anyway for having made this alpha version, that at least works right, only slower.

I have been looking more into this, and it could seem that it could have some interesting results using photos with transparent background and the effects you could get with them, BUT after some tests I do not why filter forge multiplies the render time by 3 times more for just adding the alpha components smile:?: smile:?: smile:?:

And what is worse is that the time difference is much more important when using higherr resolutions.

BUT, do not bother about this, as the only ones that could solve it are the ones from the filter forge team, and they do not have time to know why this is happening and help to optimize things like this.

And also is not something much important to be able to use this filter with transparent images

I gave credit to this filter on this image at my Renderosity 3D Gallery. I love this filter and even when used sparingly it adds so much!

After so many years, it seems that this filter is still the best one that gives the most realistic brush strokes in such great way, I have tried other filter that I could find but is not as artistic as this one

Do you know about any other FF filter that may be similar to this one ?

I have had an idea to mix this filter with other ones to make new things, as this filter depends totally on the source image you choose to choose, but what if you could use this artistic brush strokes with other filters that generates the source image?

I started to make some possible tests and will show what I mean
