If you're going to Turkey, don't miss out on Cappadocia. There's some very cool places there, strange rock formations, people who live inside strange rock formations, and ancient underground cities. If you do go to the underground cities, I suggest to take one of the local guides, otherwise you will miss out on alot of fun! I've been in Derinkuyu (underground city) and was hessitant on whether to take a guide or not, but believe me , I sure am glad I did!!!
The people in Turkey are the most hospitable people I have ever met. They compensate for that with their driving skills though ![]() |

Perhaps you would be interested in these images that are in the www.cgtextures.com , just type "cambodia" in the search box at top left and will appear 3 pages of interesting photos. They are free to see use if your respect and agree with the CGtextures license.
Also you can go to FLICKR and type the name of place you want to see more photos of that place, at least to see them not to use them, unless they have a creative commons license. |

Simply wow Cappadocia looks amazing, definitely will have to put it on the agenda, my defacto's heritage is Turkish cypriot and luckly she still has relative scattered around for the handy free accommondation, I'm just hoping one lives near Cappadocia
![]() ![]() SpaceRay Cambodia is a wonderful place, if you get the chance it's worth the trip, with $2000 you can live like a king for a month doing everything you possibly want, Tuk Tuk should everywhere in the world ...... and this gives me excuse to put another sample pic in ![]() ![]() |

Carl, thank you for the update on this filter. I can now make movie film easily. Here is an example of a strip I made with your filter and then twisted it to give a 3D effect.

This is from this site.
AV brothers page curl It is not a free filter, but it is the only filter I have found that makes the ribbons curl like I want them to. I think the version 2.0 is 29.95. The newer version (2.2) is twice that much, but I bought this filter a long time ago and I don't need the newer version. |

![]() WOW !! This is really very beautiful and very well done the curl, love it much and is a very GOOD idea. Thanks very much for making this. Like much the idea and could be used in many ways. I had the idea now that you can make also many film frames with different photos inside and then join them toghether in Photoshop or any other capable program and then use this Curl filter.
The price of newer is ONLY twice as much if you buy first the 2.0 and then want to upgrade to PRO 2.2. Well I have seen the website link and the real prices today are AV Bros. Page Curl 2.0 --> 29.95$ (or 23.95 €) AV Bros. Page Curl Pro 2.2 ---> 49.95$ (or 39.95 €) Also if you buy Page Curl 2.0 you can upgrade to the Pro version later for 29.95$ BUT I have found that you can GET A 10% DISCOUNT OVER THIS ![]() Please go to this link on the PhotoshopSupport website where they have made a review of this plugin and an interview and have a direct link to buy this with the 10% discount !!
Please Mardar what version of Photoshop are you using with this plugin you have ? Because I have seen I think that the most important differences that could be a problem are FULL compatibility with Adobe Photoshop CS3 - CS5 is missing in Page Curl 2.0! Page Curl Pro 2.2 for Windows has the 64-bit version, but Page Curl 2.0 has NOT. Page Curl Pro 2.2 for Mac OS X is the Universal application, but Page Curl 2.0 is NOT
I think is better to look at the list THE OTHER WAY and see WHAT IS MISSING in the normal version

I have seen also in the IKEA furniture store a film strip frame with about 12 photos that reminds me of a film strip that could be done using multiple images made with this filter. It would be good as decoration on a wall.

SpaceRay, I don't use Photoshop. I think it is expensive, and way too complex for a lot of average users. That's just my humble opinion. I use Paint Shop Pro 7 and XI. Although I don't like the PSP XI version as well. It crashes, it's slow and Corel ruined PSP when they bought the program from Jasc. Also my humble opinion.
![]() This filter is awesome and as far as I can find, it is the only filter that makes curling ribbons and film strips the way the user wants. There use to be another one on the market (I don't remember their name) but you could only curl ribbon in a twist that looked like it was wrapped around a barber pole. You couldn't control the stretch or loops. Here is an example of some twisted ribbons I made in AV Bros filter. ![]() |

Thanks very much Mardar for your answer and letting me know that you are using Paint Shop Pro.
Sorry that I DID NOT read completely the full text AV Bros. Page Curl 2.0 is the filter plug-in (8bf) for Adobe® Photoshop® and compatible hosts. I thought that this was ONLY for phooshop, so is good to know that you do NOT need to use Photoshop and can use others hosts, I also have the Corel Paint Shop Pro version X and Photoshop Elements 6, So I could use this Curl Filter with them. Very nice the example that you have made and well done. Thanks Here is the list of compatible hosts for the normal 2.0 version Tested hosts (for Mac OS X): Adobe Photoshop 7.0, CS, CS2 Adobe Image Ready 7.0, CS, CS2 Adobe Photoshop Elements (2.0 and higher) Adobe Fireworks (MX and higher) (formerly Macromedia Fireworks) Tested hosts (for Windows®): Adobe Photoshop (5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 7.0, CS, CS2) Adobe Image Ready (2.0 and higher) Adobe Photoshop Elements (1.0 and higher) Adobe Fireworks (MX and higher) (formerly Macromedia Fireworks) Corel Photopaint (8 and higher) Corel Paint Shop Pro (5 and higher) (formerly Jasc Paint Shop Pro) ACD Systems Canvas Professional 8.0.1 (formerly Deneba Canvas) Ulead Photoimpact (8 and higher) |

Here is a better image than the one I posted yesterday. I took some time with this one. This is Theater Trash.
![]() I used, of course, Carl's filter to make the film strips, and then I used Dreamy by Vladimir Golovin to set a mood on the entire image. Of course the twisting of the film was done in AV Brothers. |

CARL - PLEASE, COULD BE POSSIBLE TO FIT THE IMAGE INSIDE THE FILM STRIP FRAME
I want to ask if it would be possible that when you activate the film frame checkbox the image loaded would be resized to fit inside the film stip frame so it does not get cut. I know that the easy way and already available, is that you can prepare BEFORE loading the photo into the filter a space above and below inside the photo thinking ahead of the frame that would be added so this way it will not be cut. Although this is possible, is a process that does not let you to choose any photo from the ones you have and needs to be prepared before you can use it. ![]() |

Firstly I'd like to point out no filter in the library that has a frame doesn't crop the edges of the image off.
This is a case in which, as I have said previously, we need to be able to adjust canvas size in FF [ at least in using as a standalone, obviously in Ps etc you can adjust prior to filtering ] there also need to be a measurement system in FF such as rules. Two characteristics of the scale component, it repeat the image as you scale down [ on off switch in the component for repeat should be added ] and mirrors the scale down repeat [ why it works this way seem totally illogical ] for certain uses in filters you can mask out the repeats easily enough. In this case you want the repeated images, but not mirrored. Here are examples of what I'm talking about |

Carl, I agree with you that the scale tool is kinda annoying at times. It repeats the image, instead of having a transparent background, and also the repeats are mirrored, which may be good for non tileable images, but useless for tileable images.
There should be an option to select mirroring on/off, and also repeat on/off. |

Thanks Carl for explaining very well and with details why is not possible to make the image fill the inside frame, I agree and understand it very well, so you must prepare carefully the image before using the this filter thinking on the frame space that will take out, or you can reduce and compress from above and below, although this will give you a distorted photo.
Here I have made a film strip collage with the help of this great filter and the suggestion of Mardar of using the AV Bros Curl ![]() |

![]() ![]() I have a good news for this filter, is not a good, nice and perfect solution, but I have been able to get back the head of the parrot INSIDE the frame. Carl has wrote that the problem to fit the image inside the frame was that the Image component is tiling the image when scaling down and so make this useless, BUT what happens if you put the image component THROUGH A COLOR CONTROL with "Allowed for Override" setting? The tiling DISAPPEARS !!! ![]() ![]() And so as it disappears you can now resize it to be able to fit inside the frame ![]() |

Also another fix (in some way) that this brings is that you can now load non square vertical photos inside the frame and it will not look cut, and you can fit the image inside the frame, although obviously as the aspect ratio of the image is kept there will be much more space in the sides
PROBLEMS WITH THIS As said above is not a clean and good solution and has some problems The main problem with this is that now you have to load the image through the color control inside the settings instead of using the default main image Also another problem is the aspect ratio is kept so when you resize it, it is resized also the sides so is smaller and so the frame looks larger (perhaps it would need to rescale the frame too) The final Image size is measured by the size of the main image and not by the image loaded by the color control image, so you have to load also the same image in the main image so both match the same resolution or choose a new resolution using "new image..." |

Here is one example of a vertical image loaded in the color control that fits inside the frame, although as said there a big empty space in the sides, But you can always crop the sides.
Also if you may think that the frame size is bigger than the image, I think that if it would be possible to scale also the frame, you could make both match and then crop the unwanted sides. ![]() |
