Also I have seen just now inside the filter and is really well done, simple and efficient and follows what you have said about optimizing and clean up.

THIS FILTER IS SHAPE BASED !!!!

A wonderful surprise I had after looking at the inside of the filter, and discovered that this filter is shape based on the ellipse component, so if you change the ellipse to another setting or to another component tou will get different mercury shapes
smile:) smile:ff: smile:loveff:

So this filter would be like the Gradient Circles that you can change the circles to another shape, and this is fantastic and wonderful.

If you want custom shapes change the following properties:

1. In the bomber turn Layer Order to "big on top" from "small on top"
2. In the median component, enable anti-alias.

Avoid objects or shapes that have no bevel or steep bevels. These result in flat shapes and that 3D feeling won't happen.

Thanks skybase for the tips to change to custom shapes and is good to know, and is true that the key and most important thing in this filter to get the excellent effect is the large bevel width of the shape as I have tried now some other shapes and give much worse result because they have just a little bevel and look flat.

Although the shape can be changed, I think the best one is still the ellipse you have put as this gives the best results in shadings and chrome effect and looks really like colored mercury

I also like much preset 6 that gives wonderful darkly effects

I have thought that also you can use this for making frames

Frames with mercury droplets as background so you can put your photos over it or plain black background

Here below are 3 examples I have made using preset 6 and reducing the size pixels setting as you want.

This is making a black frame inside the design with a value of 10 or 20 feather selection so some of the droplets could enter the frame a little and not totally straight and sharp edge

Here is a normal source image BUT has also some trick in how the drops are laid are the original one mixes sometimes the colors in the drops and is more precise this way.

Nope smile:D smile:D it has been all inside FF and all with this filter with a very little and easy modification smile;)

This has been done with the FF built in Lifesaver with Transparency using this trick too (using the normal way would not be possible as it would need to be a black background, and even then it would not have a light gradation on the borders)
