I just bought Filter Factory a couple of days ago so, please forgive if I going about this wrong way or if another forum member has already asked this-I really love this filter (Sobel Edge Detector) and will be using it quite often but I have a question: When I downloaded the filter into my FF, I only received 4 of the variations of it instead of the 8 that are pictured at the download link. I notice that it has happened with a couple of other I downloaded too. Does anyone know why that would be happening?
Thanks in advance for your help, fractalartist1 Bored? Come check out my digi-artist resource store at:

Yep... ![]() The default for the website is 8 presets....So when the author submits a filter if they have 8 actually presets created for the filter those will show up on the website.....However if the author has lets say 4 presets within the filter those will be the only ones availible in the filter......The websites presets will have those 4 plus (I think) random presets..... But I have not submitted any filters with less then eight presets since the newest version of Filter Forge..... ![]() ![]() IF you use the built-in browser you can see what presets are availible in what filters.... ![]() Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

![]() So, the variations shown with the filter (here at the site) are simply showing examples of what you might be able to do with the filter-and are not necessarily actual presets? But if I use the browser inside Filter Forge to navigate here and choose a filter, I will see the actual presets that come with the filter before I download it? I guess I sound dense but I really want to understand. Thanks and I hope I'm not being too much of a pain but I always had my hand raised in school too. Bored? Interesting filter I have found looking for making an edge detect in the forum
Well when you submit a filter, the author has the choice to make from 1 to 20 presets. If is decided to include only 5 presets (for example), when submiting this filter, the submit wizard will render this 5 presets AND additionally will create 4 more random presets to be shown in the page of the filter of the filter library, and it will look like this 4 additional presets would be included, but they are not. When downloading you will get ONLY the presets that the author has created and not any created by the submit wizard. To really KNOW which filters has the real amount of presets and have possibly less than the 9 minimum presets required by the submit wizard you can use the "Filter Library Browser" included in the Filter Forge software in the "Download more filters" There are many old filters that has just only 1 preset available and shows like it has 9 on the FF library |
