To demonstrate this filter I will use a render from a variation of the incomparable Abstract Extreme by CFandM.
We are required to add nine presets but they are practically useless - each image will need to be set according to the images size and the desired look. This is a very easy filter to use but the blend mode, opacity (labeled blend amount) and the size pixels will need to be set for each image.

To start, here is the unmodified (other than being highly compressed) render at 1000x426.

Blend mode – normal
Opacity – 20
Size pixels – 3.43

This washes out the colors a bit but still has a nice look.

Blend mode – screen
Opacity – 25
Size pixels – 3

Notice how much difference a small adjustment in size pixels makes.

Blend mode - Overlay
Opacity – 28
Size pixels – 4

I really like this one.

Blend mode – Darken
Opacity – 50
Size pixels – 5

Multiply is usually too much but darken works well.

Change to texture mode to view the canvas. This was used on the overlay image.

Blend mode – Color
Opacity – 100
Size pixels – 345 (out of 426)

The canvas colors can be used to shift the colors for more stylized effects. A lot of yellow was added to the canvas and the size pixels set very very large for a sort of blotchy sepia look – use neutral colors for interesting black/white.

Thanks a lot Carl. smile:)
I'll say it looks blurry. Even the larger one I posted in this thread looks blurry. I guess it's the jpg compression because it looks clear once you get it home. Maybe it will help it sell. smile:|

Hey I recognize those images.. smile:D smile:)
Seriously I tried this on a couple of other abstract filters and it works fantastic on some of them......It makes it much easier to add a canvas rather then adding one to the filter itself and slowing down the process.... smile:)
More good stuff Ron... smile:)

Thanks CFandM - thanks too for the images. smile:)

Here is a canvas texture that you and Carl (or anyone) might be able to use. It doesn't look like any particular fabric that I know of but it makes for a nice effect.

Hu! smile:D No doubt based entirely on CFandM's excellent Abstract Extreme filter used to demonstrate its effect. Thanks ff users and CFandM.
Now I need one more before christmas. smile;)

Thanks Craig. I sure wish I had more time to do more ff-ing - I miss it so much.
I would like to go back to making some pretty things. I'm a little tire of textures.
