Not sure how interesting this is to anyone but me... just something I did a little while ago.

ah, more in you 'game' theme. i would have called it 'dice' not 'die', though. more recognizable for what it is even if it is plural.

by the way, i want some fluffy ones to hang in my virtual car smile;)

I did a couple different styles, and am thinking about releasing a better dice filter... this one was just me trying to make a die that works.

This is cool and should be very useful.
Here is a way to fix the size pixel problem. You probably already know about this trick, but just in case you do not. smile:)

Thanks, ron.
I updated this filter a while ago when I needed to use it for some dice I made in Blender, but never uploaded it. I was going to mess with fixing the size problem, but it didn't seem necessary at the time. I have made a version using a similar fix to the one you showed... I may upload it soon.

Will the presets shown on the filter page change?
I still see the ones from before the update.

You need to force your browser to reload. With firefox on a pc, it is ctl+shft+r.
It is also necessary to delete the local copy of the filter - otherwise ff will not download the updated one.

I was just looking at Blender last week. It looks very different from what I am already familiar with. smile:| I downloaded the basics tutorials and watch them when I have time.
Do you have a gallery of your blender projects?

Blender can be tough to learn, but I really like it. There are lots of tutorials online to help you out.

Definately check out this page if you haven't already...
http://www.blender.org/education-help/tutorials/

I'd be happy to help too if I can... I am working on getting a good gallery together, but don't really have anything up yet. I'm still in the 'messing around' stage (with Blender that can last a long time) and am not really comfortable with my work yet. I was thinking of posting a couple things in the gallery here since I use FF a lot with Blender.

Yeah, that worked.
Wasn't sure if it took time to update or something.

That looks like a great link. Thanks.
I like the idea of posting in ff's gallery too. I think it is really going to take off.

Thanks. I notice that there are several blender forums but I have not found one to call home yet. No hurry, I still have a good deal of learning to do before I make the switch.

the first part of that is true. you also need to refresh the library pages in the browser (your updated pages) to see the new. but, i dont think you have to manually delete an existing filter to get the update. i believe the update just overwrites the earlier version.

smile:D Nice. I guess you can use your old one for rendering. What kind of graphics card did you get?

New CPU is an i7 920... smile:evil:
The old computer isn't mine so I can't use it for rendering.
I doubt it would add much power to this system anyway... it's only got a Celeron in it.

Vid Card (for now) is only a Geforce 9500gt.
It's pretty good, but I definately want something better to go with the i7.
I'll be getting a new card in about a month... not sure what I'll get.

How well does Blender handle multiple cores?

Is there a list of qualified Blender hardware?

What os are you using?

NVIDIA seems to be getting along with everyone, driver-wise, right now.

Blender handles multiple cores very well.
I don't know about qualified hardware... here's a link to the system requirements page.
http://www.blender.org/features-gallery/requirements/

I'm using Vista 64bit and everything works fine.
There is a 64bit version of blender, but you must download a .zip archive as there's no installer for it yet.

I will probably stick with Nvidia when I get a new card, but I'm not sure which one I'll get. I won't have a lot of money to spend so it won't be top of the line. I'd like at least a GTX260.

I'm really happy with this computer so far.
It's the first good system I've ever owned.
I had to save a bit of money on the vid card so I could get a monitor and a wacom tablet, but it was worth it.

I got this one...

So far I'm pretty happy with it.
Came with Photoshop Elements and Corel Painter... they're ok.
I prefer Paint Shop Pro, but I don't have a copy to use anymore.
It's great in Blender for sculpting and texture painting too.

That looks like a good choice. I thought you might have one of the fancy ones. They look cool, but also a little gimmicky, nothing that makes me want to upgrade.
It took me a few months to get comfortable with mine. I have a 4x5 and like it, but since I started doing some sketching, for the first time, I wish it was a little larger - although I have no idea where I would put it.

I didn't have enough money left for a fancier one, and probably still would have gotten this one if I had.

I have purchased all of my system, except the graphics card, used, on ebay. Tablets are especially good to buy used because many people just decide they don't like them. Besides, with a new surface and nib, they are as good as new anyway.
I had been buying used CRT monitors but recently I decided it was cheaper just to buy a new LCD.
