this is good! i dont like the size you made most of the defaults; i'd show off that knit more. but, that's just a preference thing.

Hey congratulations Constantin, nice texture.

Btw, FF team, I think there is some error on the variations 4 and 7. I mean, the variation page shows small version instead of a large one as in its thumbnail.

Lucato -- this isn't an error. This effect is caused by the fact that the texture frequency (or signal) significantly exceeds the thumbnail sampling frequency -- much of the signal slips between samples, so it can't be reconstructed correctly. In signal processing terminology, this effect is known as aliasing.

The theory behind this is described by the Whittaker–Nyquist–Kotelnikov–Shannon sampling theorem (nice name, isn't it? smile:D ) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nyquist%...ng_theorem

Thank You very much, Vladimir!

You saved my time. I'm also was trying to explain it. But with my Eglish it would be terrible.

It's really not an error. On the added photo You can see results of resize. I was using Photoshop and some other programs and everywhere sometimes you can get the something same.

P.S.

Hi Vlad and Constantin. What a nice and simple name. smile:) I thought that the thumbnails of the variations 4 and 7 were caused by the randomizer changing the "size, pixels" at 600 resulting as a zoom of the threads and the seamless page should show it larger (zoomed).

Thanks guys for taking time to explain that. I appreciated that.

All the best,
Lucato.

this filter still blows my mind. it's so simple, and gets the job done beautifully. must have taken a lot of tweaking to perfect...

I wonder what it would take to combine it with some color patterns...
Or make different knitting stitch pattern, like ribbing.

(I'm a noob to the FF and making textures, so please be gentle with my silly questions and ideas... pleez, pretty pleez)

Some pictures this time smile:)
How would one go about simulating ribbed knit with this filter, where one column would be above, and another would be below (or more then one column of stitches)
Like the neck in this picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/helloyar...762533598/

and after that... knit crazy people will be wanting patterned knits, like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/helloyar...076372368/
or any of theese:

Great job. The slight distortion in the first preset makes it perfect. Looks like somebody just photographed part of some clothing. The thumbnail issue is pretty strange, though. Are the thumbnails not antialiased?

Ok. So. I ADORE this filter. I tweaked it a very tiny bit, and came up with an 'Intarsia (pattern knitting)' version, that takes a picture and makes it into knit. Now, again, it's a very, very slight tweak (haven't quite figured out the distortion yet), so I'm not even remotely going to take credit for it by uploading my version, but I thought I'd throw a pic at you.

(Compression causes the moiré pattern discussed above to show. Right click >show image to get rid of it.)

mouse, you could post your tweak here in the forums. that shldnt detract from the popularity in the library much. i'd like to see it.

and connie, raised knit...yes, that would be interesting. perhaps a different hgt mapping in places, or, if one could apply a zoom to just parts of the knit in patterns.
