Ron, have to comment on this.

Great. I looked up on wikipedia the different phases of the moon in attempt to do a filter like this; however, couldn't seem to get it right. You did!!!! I am not a huge fan of the texture; however, I think the phases of the moon alone makes this filter gold. Well done.

there just arent enough hours in the day... would love to spend some time looking at how you put this one together.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Thanks Redcap! smile:D
I am in complete agreement on the texture. I worked for a long time on a better one but the render time was much too slow so it languishes on my hard drive. There is nothing easier to come by than free, public domain, high quality texture maps of the lunar, or other planetary object, surfaces free from jpl.gov so I felt bad about doing a lunar surface map because it seemed like I was just waisting time - so I did it anyway. smile:)
Maybe I should remove the texture map and release it as a snippet. I planned on doing that all along but the response to it has been so limited I just figured it was to nichy. (is nichy a word?) smile:?: Anyway many of my filters seem to be very nichy.

Thanks for checking it out! smile:D
Let me know if you want to use the mechanics and I will release it as a snippet.

Do that, or make a solar ecclipse filter. That would be sweet. Or a glowing white moon shadowed by clouds; I would defintely use the snippet.

The new snippet has been submitted. It's called 'One Lunation'. It would be great if you can get some use out of it. Good luck.

(Tip... remove Anti-Alias and check the box for 'seamless tiling' and move the 'Size, pixel slider to 600')

This filter offers complete control of the moon via the sliders~

You can put the moon on the image,,, or in the case of this sample... put the image in the moon~ Great fun to play with~

P.S. Grain is from the photo, not the filter... I just like this image grainy, personal preference,, just letting you know though, it is the image that's grainy, the filter is crystal clear~ smile:D

Very versatile filter! The trick is to go in and start making your own presets and get those ready for application when the time comes.

Entertaining and fun filter~ smile:D
