Great. I looked up on wikipedia the different phases of the moon in attempt to do a filter like this; however, couldn't seem to get it right. You did!!!! I am not a huge fan of the texture; however, I think the phases of the moon alone makes this filter gold. Well done.

I am in complete agreement on the texture. I worked for a long time on a better one but the render time was much too slow so it languishes on my hard drive. There is nothing easier to come by than free, public domain, high quality texture maps of the lunar, or other planetary object, surfaces free from jpl.gov so I felt bad about doing a lunar surface map because it seemed like I was just waisting time - so I did it anyway.
Maybe I should remove the texture map and release it as a snippet. I planned on doing that all along but the response to it has been so limited I just figured it was to nichy. (is nichy a word?) Anyway many of my filters seem to be very nichy.
