I really love preset no.5 it maybe an ink spot test moment but it make me think of a primitive ritual with little figures dancing round a strange idol smile:)

hehe, carl. well, dont stare at it too long; you'll end up stripping naked and camping out on your lawn smile:D

thanks, CF. means a lot from someone who does such great patterns himself smile:)

also, i've never done an update to any of my filters. how odd. i was originally thinking that i'd just submit the filter again as a new filter with a different filter ending. instead of 1g it would be something like 1n. is that kosher or shld it be done as a real update using that part of the submit process? there are enough changes/upgrades that i wouldnt want folks to lose the original if they liked the original better. so, what's the policy on this?

This was the update I was talking about...Althou not looking like an update..I guess submit it as another version...In case other people like the first version over the second version or people like the second and not the first..Or just more variety of the filter.. smile:)

Whoa! Excellent work Kraellin! This filter would work awesome for ceiling and rug textures and I really like the example StevieJ made with it and Variation 3 as well ^_^ I wonder if you could use that with a glass filter to make a stain glass window -- that would be incredible!

Oh yes, I've been meaning to ask you Kraellin, you have an interesting way of naming the versions of your filters, I was wondering how your numbering scheme works, do you start with 1 and then work through the alphabet until you run out and move to the next number or does each letter mean something new? My apologies if you've been asked this before ^_^

CF, yes, i think that's what i'll do. i hate 'spamming' the filter queue with new versions of the same thing, but the differences are enough that some may not like them.

and thanks, zephos smile:) yes, that's what it reminded me of too, carpets, top down looks on floors and so on, mostly what you might see in a church. and yes, the stained glass is there; it just needs that slight tweaking to really bring it out as glass. i did ask steve already to add one of his glass filters to this and he's already posted some images in the gallery doing just that. however, he turned the thing to crystal, not stained glass smile:D so, we'll have to work on that smile;)

as for my numbering system, yes, it's just version 1, then add an A, B, C and so on down the line. if it hits Z, then i add another numeral. so, it's get a bit odd when i hit a Z, since it shld really start over at 2 and then 2a and so on, but i've sort of reserved going 2a for a major update or overhaul. thus, filters that end in IV you can tell i've overhauled the thing quite a bit and more than once smile:) then again, sometimes i just get sloppy with the system and nothing makes sense smile;)

Well, it would take some work to covert your filter.....have to find predominant edges.....posterize color, gradient profile color blend, etc.....blend curved noise for impurities, bubbles, scratch depth, etc.....then refract in curved noise for height to create glass surface texture. Two minutes worth of work smile:D LOL..... I will give it a shot after I finish up what I'm doing..... smile:)

Kraellin,

Actually, you can call me Scary...that's what most people call me when I use this screen name (though RL friends will call me Kitty, too). smile:D

And, umm, no...I don't think "furball" would be appropriate. Only my spousal unit can call me that. smile;)

BTW, I had fun looking at how you built this. I liked your use of the elevation gradient -- it's something I never would have thought of (I gotta experiment with some of these more esoteric components!). I was kind of bemused by the final choice 3, though -- I guess I'd have to think harder of what kind of image I'd like to put behind that alpha mask. ^_^;;

nah, i know too many scary females already. so, it'll have to be kit, kits, or kitty then smile:)

'spousal unit'? yer not a conehead are you? now, that might actually make me change back to 'scary' smile:)

yeah, elevation gradient was one it took me a while to use correctly (though i still mess it up at times). but, it's got some great uses.

i put the alpha mask in to allow folks to use the stained glass look as a real window. havent used it myself much yet.
