After making the 3d cube, then playing with the frame component
![]() I thought I would post this. There may be this in a filter already but I thought I would put it up. Its a method of making a directional light on 3d objects, it uses the profile gradient so it has 4 positions. ![]() Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

JFYI: there's a support for point lighting (infinitely distant light sources) in shader code (Surface type), just no UI for it.
Your lighting for _images_ is better in most cases though because it supports a variation of a spotlight instead of point lights. |

Spotlight is what I was going for. In my opinion its more of a softer light than point lighting, in some instances. I still have yet to experiment with other types and ways of lighting with this method. Such as how it would react to an actual image. Maybe also incorporate full rotation. But I did use a variation of this in the Poker Chips filter for the bevel.
I did also submit this snippet ![]() Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

Yes, we'll add the UI for point lights in future releases. |

Will this be a toggle for Surface type filters or will you introduce a new filter type for this (as in 'Direct Light Surface' & 'HDRI Surface')? --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

The point lights can be used together with the HDRI sphere -- no need to introduce an additional filter type.

What if you want to use point lights (or simple lighting) without HDRI?

How about this one: set Reflectivity to zero! ![]() ![]() All kidding aside, maybe FF should provide a few hdri environments that are based on simple studio lighting (like these). --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

and without the reflection images (from the lighting).....which is at the top of my FF wish list
![]() I was also wondering if it would be possible to clean up the details in the existing FF lighting??? .....maybe just a straight horizon with a clear sky at different ambiences...... It's the reflection images of doors, windows, fences, and even people in the FF lighting that are creating the "dirty" side effects..... ![]() Steve
