Hi There
I wonder if anyone can help... Is there any way of creating a filter that when ran on a text selection, would give similar results to this filter Grarbanzo's Kromatism Filter By similar, I mean the glossy bevelled look, not the kaleidescopic elements What I want to be able to do is choose bevel width and hue and saturation, but I just don't know where to start, I have an idea of what components would be used, i.e. Blur possibly for height etc, but simply don't know how to build it I am grateful for any help on offer Thanks J |

Try this snippet I've attached. (Make sure you replace the frame component with your selection.)

Wow, that's great, thanks Uberzev, but there is a small 'but'...
Where do I attach the Hue/Saturation component so I can change colours ?- because at the moment the only colouration is coming from the HDRI What I really would like is to be able to pick a colour - is that possible also ? |

Biomechanic,
Probably the simplest way to add color is to just add a Color controller into the Surface Color input. However, you'ld probably also want to use the Selection controller to "Set Alpha" so the non-selected parts become transparent. I'll attach a filter I made for experimenting... (Ignore all the extra experimental stuff I was messing with and maybe just examine the Color controller, Selection component, Set Alpha component, and Surface color input.) beveledwcolor.ffxml |

ssamm Thank you very much for that, it really is fantastic - it's also helped me to understand how components work with each other
p.s. love your 'Alien Ribs' filter, It's made some fantastic widescreen wallpapers and it's great for testing HDRI lighting situations |

Biomechanic,
That's cool if you found my post/filter helpful. ![]() (By the way, I'm often impressed with the various ways one can approach various "filter creation" ideas -- where I find myself continuously finding more stuff to build off of... E.g. uberzev previously posted (quite a while ago) a "basic shading" snippet in an earlier thread somewhere in the forums, and I found his recent "beveled" snippet, here, to be an interesting compliment that seemed a bit related...) Anyway, also thanks for the positive "Alien Ribs" feedback -- it's always nice to read comments like that. ![]() |
