I "double-dog-dare" Dilla to make an an "Alphabet soup" / "Alphabit Cerial in Milk" filter.....with letters jumbled and askewed from each other......from the concept started by Mousewrite's new Cerial filter smile;) smile:D smile:dgrin: ....... smile:devil:

I would try to do it.....but I'm just a Padawan with that type of curve work complexity smile;) smile:)

What about the text filters already out? The one by byRo could be used perhaps:
http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...essage1947

Just need some random distribution (about 50 of voldemorts filters could do that smile:D)

That is a good place to start!!! smile:)

Uber's pipes might be a good place to start too......

I was just thinking that 'type' filters could come in handy for all types of things beyond 'Alphabet Soup'......like signs, buttons, banners, logos, etc..... smile:devil:

I haven't seen Zephos here for quite some time..... smile:cry:

I'd rather wait until we get text components and bombers. Doing something like alphabet soup is certainly possible at present, but would result in a very bloated filter. I'm currently feeling too lazy for that. smile;) smile:D

I agree with Crapadilla --I could produce this filter as an excersize in FF's current capabilities but BOY what a monster it would be

different colors different shapes different depths lighting and so much more --none of the mechanics are really that great a hurdle

Ive actually got 75 filters that do nothing but create letters, numbers and shapes --example 1 filter just to produce a's another for b's

to combine them all adn do all the random components while not really that difficult would be imensly time consumeing and talk a bout a huge filter --the filter it self would probably have a larger file size then your end photo--can I do this yes but do to slow render times I bet it isnt accepted into the library

If you guys really want I will go ahead and produce an alphabet soup one but Im betting right now you will have to download it from the forum and not the library since its render time will probably SUCK

LOL.... Yeah, I realize that it would be a monster that would require a high-end machine to crunch at an acceptable speed.....

It would be fantastic if FF came up with a text component....with user input, connected to a font library built into FF, and the characters could be converted to tiles.....allowing individual character sizing, positioning, angle skewing, etc.....

Especially so if a filter like this was only two components in FF 2.0: a text and a bomber. smile;)

Let me just check if I got it right: a bomber is a filter that takes an input shape and scatter it out randomly, eventually random rotation and shape variations?

A bomber is a component, not a filter. Other than that, you got it right. smile:)

Vlad divulged some info about bombers here.

folks, there's a fairly simple wayt to do an alphabet filter and it doesnt have to be a complet monster even. if you did a block lettering, it shld be fairly easy. first, import the any angle rotate into your filter. then simply use profile gradients to create not letters, but the legs and curves of letters. take those and rotate with the any angle rotate and combine as needed for the letters.

a B is nothing more than a straight line and two, truncated, masked circles. a C is nothing more than a masked circle. an A is just three rotated lines and so on and so forth. it shldnt be that hard or even that slow.

you simply make the parts and then rotate as needed and combine.

Sounds easy enough.....I'll have to "give it a fiddle".....as Carl would say smile;) smile:D

......or be smart like Dilla......and wait for the text component to come out smile;) smile:D LOL....

unfortunatly then it dosnt look very alphabet soup or serial looking

even then it will still involve alot of components --I did exaclty that for my alphabets filter but it takes quite a few components sometimes --offsets gradients etc

I thought this is a pretty cool filter - I presume it not possible with FF but with Sphinx and Dilla reading this thread I thought this is a real challenge - what components would you need to do this sort of stuff

I'm sure Dilla or someone could make an alphabet soup filter, and it's not like Dilla wouldn't just want to ha-ha, but it is kind of a waste of time, considering the work/wiki/noise lab lessons D normally does. smile;) In time, think FF V3 people, in time a great many things will be easier, stay focused on the more basic things, the not always fun-da-mentals eh. smile:D

On the subject of the text....oooo someone is going to have some hardcore filter authoring on that one....Even if "Any Angle" was used it would need to be used in
several places so you would need a copy of it in different locations of the filter...
Thats why I never wanted to tackle the alphabet...Just would be way to slow and a very large filter in construction so for very little of a gain....But still it would be fun...
